About this deal

It coped great with drizzle and even fell off my wrist and landed in a puddle when I was adjusting the strap for the heart rate. As someone who suffers from insomnia, I can find myself trying to fall asleep hours after I’m in bed. In general, it was within 1-2bpm for resting heart rate readings compared to a Garmin watch and a chest strap monitor.

When I first saw photos of the Neo, I thought here’s an adventure-styled watch I’d like to have a closer look at. Finally, we believe it is worth highlighting the battery life of this smartwatch , which has an incredible four-week battery life. You might know Huami as the makers of the extremely popular Mi Band, but the company has been building out its own portfolio of fitness wearables. But it doesn't support swim tracking so you won't gain much for doing so, being being able to tell the time.

You can see heart rate during sleep, but there's no REM sleep recorded so it's not as detailed as Fitbit's or Amazfit's GTS/R watches. This is with all-day heart rate tracking switched on, as well as sleep tracking and a few workout sessions. As we said, we couldn't access the promised sports tracking features, so we just kept a close eye on the heart rate data during runs and indoor HIIT and rowing workouts.PAI stands for Personal Activity Intelligence and the idea is you can just focus on achieving 100 PAI points per day to maintain health. Overall, Amazfit is pushing the idea of a personal activity score over a data-driven approach on the Amazfit Neo.

With no power-sapping color screen and a small array of features, we expected big battery numbers from the Neo.The device has a standard memory slot (such as an SD or micro SD card slot) that enables you to extend the built-in internal storage with affordable memory modules, or easily retrieve data, such as photographs, from the memory card. Thanks to the stellar battery life and power management abilities of this smartwatch, you can use it for up to four weeks (28 days) on a single (full) charge.

This low-key approach can be refreshing for someone who wants a more holistic approach towards fitness, but it is not going to cut it if you want granular data. While the internal battery on the Neo is superb, and will last for days, using this out in the mountains will cause a depletion in the power on your smartphone as your phone will be pinging satellites for GPS position. You can even choose different modes and also gather more detailed information about your exercise time, heart rate, and more. A heart rate monitor on the back of the watch senses your pulse in your wrist (you can ‘tell’ the app whether you’re wearing it on your left or right arm).
