About this deal

There are 1980 home-recorded versions of Chuck Berry’s “Around and Around” and the Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?

She nevertheless came into the studio to record vocals on a song that would ultimately become an album outtake, Lou Reed‘s cutesy, childlike “I’m Sticking With You. This is such a cute story following the friendship of an unlikely duo with a sweet message especially for and younger audience. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure!Although this song is 50 years old, I heard it for the first time just this week as part of the soundtrack for the BBC comedy show Alma’s Not Normal. Bear, Squirrel and now Chicken make a new sound, a new beat, a new rhythm and they realise how perfect they all fit together. As the song expands out to include the moon landing and the Vietnam War, it seems to become a commentary on blind allegiance to anyone or anything - the notion that certain actions go "past right and wrong", and the danger involved in such a point of view. Surely that will be their fate sooner or later, and the singer is going to stick with them right through that bitter ending.

Reed had described her voice as “very innocent” and approached her to sing that record’s closing number, “After Hours. Of course 'sticking with you' may just be a sexual metaphor played out through the events of the day. That the next line that follows is the narrator seeing herself in the place of the one hanging there kind of continues that theme of dependence and 'mirroring' (I'll Be Your Mirror). I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. The 'in the rain' qualifier re the stagecoach makes me think it's not about what it literally means. This beautifully written, gorgeously illustrated follow-up to the bestselling I’m Sticking with You is the perfect book for examining how, even if new friends might disrupt the rhythm at first, the sense of belonging that friendship can bring has the potential to make your heart sing! i read somewhere that when this song came out it was so popular and sweet that even little kids were singing it in the playground cos its like a nursery rhyme. A joyful tale about acceptance and belonging from the creators of international sensation, I’m Sticking with You!
