Despite it appearing a little bulky at first, its footprint is very neat, meaning it actually takes up less space on the desk than the Russell Hobbs 12" Scandi Desk Fan, even though the latter appears smaller as you can see through the grill guards which gives the illusion of a smaller build. The MeacoFan 1056P is a brilliant floor-standing fan that does an excellent job of keeping you cool. On its highest speed setting of 12, the MeacoFan 1056 Air Circulator is by far the most powerful fan I've tested.The fan can be controlled via the magnetic remote control that sits neatly in the centre of the fan allowing you to select from one of the twelve fan speeds, the side to side or up and down motion and for when you want cool air to help you sleep a Sleep Mode that adjusts the cooling rate so that you don’t wake up feeling too cold in the middle of the night. There’s a looks-like-leather but is actually synthetic and animal by-product-free carry handle at the top of the globe which can be adjusted to lay flat, or pulled out a notch to allow access for fingers underneath if you want to transport the fan from room to room. It looks nice, and while it makes moving the MeacoFan 1056P around a room easier, we wouldn’t recommend holding just the handle while carrying the fan between rooms – when we tried it, the handle came lose after a while, which led to the fan almost being dropped down some stairs.

It’s important to note that like all fans, the MeacoFan 1056P doesn’t cool the air, but cools you down by moving air over your skin, causing convective heat transfer that makes you feel cooler. Based on the award winning MeacoFan 1056, this pedestal fan is ideal to keep you cool during the day and throughout the night. This is a little bit fiddly to adjust and I doubt I’d often go to the effort of adjusting it rather than just picking the whole unit up, but it’s there if you want to use it, and that does mean you can carry the unit one-handed. With a Quiet Mark award and described as ‘whisper quiet’, the 1056 is the natural choice for energy-efficient air circulation that keeps you reliably cool through the night.
