About this deal

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. After just the first 25 minutes video tuition a complete beginner with nay six string guitar will be able to join in with Bert Weedon and his group and play their first tune. The independent-minded quarterly magazine that combines good looks, good writing and a personal approach.

I have started to play the guitar again after 44 years and find the book invaluable particularly the techniques of playing.

In November 1976, Weedon made number one, for one week, in the UK Albums Chart with 22 Golden Guitar Greats, a compilation album of guitar solos released on the Warwick label. Although I'm an amateur beginner on acoustic guitar, I'm a trained musician and a lot of the DVD content covers things I already know. He joined the BBC Show Band directed by Cyril Stapleton in the 1950s, when he began to be featured as a soloist. Each selection ends with you playing one of fifteen tunes of varying styles and rhythms, with Bert and his group. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

As a Water Rat, Weedon was highly active in charity work and fundraising, especially for children and disabled people, and was elected King Rat in 1992. In 1976 Weedon became the first solo guitar player to go to No1 on the Official Top 40 album charts, with 22 Golden Guitar Greats. Kids of today may be different of course, but back in 1963, 9 year olds wanted to learn Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Duane Eddy and Hank Marvin riffs, not dreck like Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes and Cockles And Mussels. I don't want to be too negative because absolute beginners might find the DVD is a goldmine of information.

Bert Weedon could only claim one Top 10 hit in his career but his influence could be heard on countless No 1s, not least through his best-selling guitar manuals. here is the (short) list of players who appear to be using an orthodox grip: Pat Metheney, Robert Fripp, Eric Clapton (although I've never paid a lot of attention to EC, I'm sure I've seen him playing thumb over), Andy Summers (not conclusive), and as you would expect, Andres Segovia. Play in a Day' is easy to use, with plenty of tips for selecting the right guitar, the correct amplifier, how to hold your instrument and plenty of tunes and exercises to get to grips with. However, I do know of a player who died 2 or 3 years ago who was the absolute undisputed master of the particular style and technique you refer to.

This compilation features all his important recordings between 1956-62, notably his original versions of 'Apache' (which of course launched The Shadows' career) and 'Ginchy' (which was popularised in the US by The Ventures). Highly regarded for his versatility, Bert's glittering career has been a strong influence on virtually every famous guitarist.

Was walking on Brighton Palace pier some years ago when I looked up on a raised part of the cafe deck and there he was with his wife sitting enjoying the sun and a cup of tea. Born in East Ham, London, top guitar star Bert Weedon wanted to play the guitar from his very early childhood. It was back in the 80s, when I was on holiday with my family at a slightly up-market holiday camp in Suffolk that I got to see Bert Weedon. Already an established star when rock'n'roll arrived in the UK, he was named as an inspiration by many of the biggest names in British rock and pop music.
