About this deal

Each application of Nemaslug controls slugs for 6 weeks, so for a slug free garden, re-apply each 6 weeks. Unlike some controls, Nemaslug continues to work well during wet weather - exactly when you need protection against slugs!

Slug Killer , which contains natural nematodes (Phasmarhabditis Californica) , that are effective at controlling slugs, but unlike chemical controls, are safe for children, pets, birds and wildlife. We supply packs of microscopic beneficial nematodes (eelworms) which are watered into pots or open ground. I’ve also discovered we have a visiting hedgehog, so thrilled that my garden is now a greener and safer place for the wildlife. Nemaslug can be applied any time when slugs are present as long as the soil temperature is 5oC (40oF).No and unlike some other slug control methods, Nemaslug continues to work well during wet weather – exactly when you need protection against slugs!

Control slugs NATURALLY by applying Nemaslug Slug Killer, which contains natural nematodes, that are effective at controlling slugs, but unlike chemical controls, are safe for children, pets, birds and wildlife. They also say that the product is excellent for their greenhouse and that they are flowering for the third time. If you have a larger area to treat you can use multiple Nemaslug packs it is best to apply each pack of Nemaslug individually. Evaporation can also effect the application, so it is best to avoid very bright or windy conditions. If you do apply though foliage then wash the treatment from the foliage to the soil with extra applications of water.Nemaslug is less effective on cloggy clay soil, which has not been worked and/or has become waterlogged.

However, if because of dense foliage this is impossible, after application wash them off into the soil with some extra water. Ensure the soil is moist before application, it is best to apply in the evening away from strong sunlight which will kill the nematodes. If applying in hot weather it is better to wait till later in the day when the soil won’t dry out so quickly and the nematodes will have a chance to migrate under the ground during the night. In doing so, a pellet of bacteria is released that begins to multiply spreading through the host body. If you have crops like strawberries and tomatoes growing, slugs will chew round holes in the fruit as well as the leaves. These predators have a significant impact on the slug population, but many of the chemicals used in slug pellets can be toxic to these predators, so if you use them, you run the risk of harming them. I find the distribution method very difficult - maybe my rose (with enlarged holes as required) isn't so good as it dribbles all over and the solution is therefore very difficult to distribute evenly. Garlic, chilli and cinnamon stinky spray- good but only as long as the rain doesn’t wash it off the leaves ( works really well on Hosta leaves in the summertime)Pellets- very effective but I don’t like putting poison into the environment and worry about the birds/ hedgehogs eating the poisoned pests. They work down to temperatures of 5ºC and will survive occasional frost so can be used early in the season.
