When I finally finished reading No Time for Goodbye, I sat in silence for a moment, my caffeine-addled thoughts wrapped around the incredibly touching journey I had just traversed. They raise them from the time they are babies, spend each and every day with them, think they're these goddamn fucking angels, and then one day the cops come to the door and say hey, guess what parents?Increasingly tormented but determined to discover the truth and confront his nightmare, Paul begins investigating the deaths himself. The actual story picks up some twenty-five years later as Cynthia deals with the questions raised by her past and attempts to find the solution to the mystery that has haunted her for most of her life. No one ever asks Peter Robinson why he sets his books in the UK, or Rohinton Mistry why he sets books in India.

Following a huge family row, fueled by the booze she had shared with Fleming, the girl storms off to her bedroom, locks the door, and falls into an all-consuming slumber. Definitely enough twists to keep you guessing and make you wonder just what was going to happen at the end.

Sometimes we think we know other people, especially those we supposedly are close to, but if we really knew them, why are we so often surprised by the shit they do? No Time for Goodbye has a great premise, and a cast of real people trapped in a terrifying and totally extraordinary situation. The psychological element of No Time for Goodbye is particularly interesting--it delves into the complex emotions that follow a traumatic event. It was almost like watching a film, the characters came to life and the whole book was great fun to read - who cares if the plot was a little implausable. And I am from Houston, Texas and not sure of the meaning of so many people taking so much pride and dishonesty in claiming they wrote songs that I wrote and cowrote.
