About this deal

Tom had his own theme in Series 5 whenever he takes off in Wallaby 1, however ever since Series 6, it has been absent. The original idea came about from two ex-firemen from London, England – Dave Gingell and David Jones after purchasing a stop motion animation book by artist Anthony Miller. Tom was introduced in Series 5; and also appears in Series 6 onwards, including the feature-length specials. The theme song was performed by Mal Pope in a classic rock style from 1987 to 1994, then by a different singer, Cameron Stewart, in a 2000s alternative rock style since the 2003 new episode broadcasts. Sarah and James Jones are the relatively well-behaved six-year-old twins of Charlie and Bronwyn, niece and nephew of Fireman Sam.

In October 2017, the London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton highlighted Fireman Sam in a campaign fighting sexism and promoting the gender-neutral term firefighter. Pontypandy Picnic Area is near Pontypandy Mountain in the countryside between Newtown and Pontypandy. In the 2005 and 2008 seasons, Trevor is no longer an auxiliary firefighter but is still the bus driver, and the spark between him and Dilys still holds strong. Bella appears to be based on the real Welsh Italians who ran cafés known as "Bracchis" in South Wales Valleys. to which Dilys replies, "Stands to reason, if they want intelligent lifeforms," while looking disapprovingly at Bella.P. Jones is a robotic bin when to have Sam's plan he was to do to stop people to vehicles in the episode 'The Great Inventor'. Fireman Sam is the brave archetypal fireman and protector, who remains composed in an emergency and unfailingly offers assistance to all those in need.

It was used for patrolling the Pontypandy mountain range and used in a variety of rescues if Tom was required. She only visited occasionally (hailing from Newtown fire station), and in the new series, she works at Pontypandy fire station full-time.It is him who gave the name "Hydrus" to the new rescue vehicle introduced at the end of this special. It was interspersed with scenes of children learning about fire safety with Gary Lewis, the actor playing Fireman Sam in the stage show. In Series 11, Mandy Flood gave her model of Wallaby 1 to the young prince during his royal visit to Pontypandy with his parents. For the 2005 series, there was still only 1 vehicle bay, but had been revamped so Venus had a room at the back of the station. Pontypandy Police Station is the new police station and custody suite of Pontypandy that's part of the Pontypandy Police Force.

In Series 5, Tom is generally a kind person, similar to most of the other characters and in Series 6, he is also shown to be a bit cocky and competitive, as seen in the episode, Sausages vs. In Series 6, Tom helps the fire brigade with emergencies more often, mostly having a few non-speaking roles, like in the episodes Poorly Penny, Three Legged Race and Danger by the Double. As a former army officer, he insists upon a high standard of both hygiene and efficiency in the fire station. Moose Roberts is a famous mountain climber who hails from Canada and works at the Mountain Activity Centre.Tom Thomas is an Australian Mountain Rescuer and Pilot who runs the Pontypandy Mountain Rescue Centre. Buck Douglas is an alien-hunter and television presenter who will be introduced in the Fireman Sam special, Alien Alert. Bella Lasagne is the absent-minded village café owner, hailing from Italy and has since moved to Newtown, making various visits.

Wallaby 2 is based on a Westland WS-61 Sea King, a British licence-built version of the American Sikorsky S-61 helicopter of the same name, built by Westland Helicopters. In 2009, Fireman Sam appeared with other animated children's TV characters in a Children in Need single. However, the characters of Tom Thomas, Moose Roberts and Bella Lasagna have their regular, respective Australian, Canadian and Italian voices (instead of being dubbed with a US voice actor), due to their characters' accents. In the CGI series, there were two stations overall, one from 2008–14 and one from Heroes of the Storm onwards. The series first appeared in Welsh on S4C on 15 September 1987, and two months later in English on BBC One on 17 November.Coast Road is the main road that takes anyone from Pontypandy to neighbouring places Pontypandy Mountain and Newtown.
