Since my interest in single malt scotch whisky developed a few years ago, that’s the task I’ve essentially been attempting, whether I knew it or not—seek out all of the classic malts, and sample them one by one. Nose: Very light and clean nose, mild fruity characteristics: kiwi and bananas, butterscotch, but also farmy and grainy, scents reminiscent of a warm oatmeal. I’m not a friend of fruity whiskies so my points should not be taken seriously, if you’re a “fruit lover”. It smells distinctly sweet and fruity, with a very citrus-forward profile, complemented by hints of what are perhaps melon or fresh grass. Definitely nutty on the finish, though my mention of almond notes 10 years prior is less distinct today, perhaps owing to the healthy slug of sweet honey that gives the whisky its exuberance. The palate offers no surprises, a big cereal bomb with gentle, honey-laced sweetness, a leathery kick on the back end, and a note of tobacco and some pungent green herbs on the finish. I was a first year undergrad on a geology field trip to Arran and one of the excursions took us past the Lochranza distillery, but it must have been newly opened at the time as it was quite a few years ago.

The color is of a nice gold and the eau de vie Coats the glass pretty nicely: the legs are nice and take time to disappear. I also did try a 2 parts Arran w/ 1 part Arumaticus Fumosus and 1 part HP 12YO, and that one blew my socks off! Now I was still a noob (still am) to the full extent of the world wide whisky world then but it seemed to be one of the few rebrands to be accepted with open arms. Nose: creamy, floral honey and melon, grassy notes, almond lots of vanilla with a hint of brine and sea air with time sour green apple.

Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. Mouth: Creamy on the palate, citrus notes, spiced up with a teaspoon of ginger spice and sweet overripe apples. If any new distillery follows the way Lochranza Distillery has gone about making whisky when they started before the modern whisky boom in 1995 i. Mouth: Vanilla continues to reign and pears are still present and spices start to appear after a few seconds. Looking closer at the label, under the sub-heading of “Single Malt Scotch Whisky,” we can ever so slightly see and feel braille!

We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.

I haven’t come across such a thing on a whisky label before but think it’s significant and incredible.
