About this deal

The Technics SL1200MK2 turntable was sold in Europe under the SL1210MK2 model name. This European model featured a darker grey colour where as the SL1200 sold in American and Japanese markets came finished in silver.

When it comes to turntables, one name has always stood out above the rest, so when Technics announced the brand new SL-1210MK7 earlier this year, everyone wondered the same thing - How does it compare to the legendary, 'Club Standard' SL-1210MK2!? The drive system designed by Matsushita is direct-drive rather than the more commonly found belt-drive type, a less expensive design. The direct-drive design, which was developed to reduce wow and flutter, produces a very quiet turntable that, for a direct-drive turntable, has minimal motor and bearing noise, (although the bearing rumble does tend to become characteristic in well-used turntables). This was partially achieved through the fact that the SL1210/1200 made the platter a part of the motor mechanism.TechnicsWorx is an Edinburgh based business that specialises in full restoration and re-sale of the Technics sl 1210 and sl 1200 (MK2 - MK6) turntables. The platter achieves high rigidity and vibration damping characteristics by using a two-layer construction with deadening rubber applied to the entire rear surface of the aluminium die-cast to eliminate the unnecessary resonance that is otherwise relayed to the record, thereby producing clear sound. Notes:The improved motor-drive circuit centered on the newly developed ?S-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) thoroughly suppresses any minute vibrations generated from the motor. This is the first stage of Technics' new generation of direct drive turntables that aim for further improvements in sound quality. The AE-Drive is a new system that applies Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing high harmonics, the new drive suppresses vibrations from the motor for smoother, more accurate rotation, ensuring a rich reproduction of the music.

The SL-1210 Mk2 has earned its place in the history books because, up until fairly recently, it was by far the best DJ turntable available. Its key features have always been the torqey direct-drive motor, smooth, accurate pitch control, solid build quality, well-damped feet to soak up the vibrations of a busy club and a touchability factor that makes it a pleasure to use. Technics will release a new limited edition SL1200MK7SP turntable in very limited numbers for the fall-winter 2023, in collaboration with streetwear brand, Supreme. The core unit is identical to the 1200MK7 but features a white plinth and accessories such as headshell, buttons, power switch, anti-skate, tonearm weight, tonearm height adjuster and pitch slider knob. It sports a metallic Supreme badge on the unit’s body as well as a Supreme logo on the slipmat. Lastly, it features a Technics logo featured in Supreme's iconic red on the dust cover. are commonly used in recording studios and for non-electronic live music performance. More than 3 million units were sold. It is widely regarded as one of the most durable and reliable turntables ever produced. [ weaselwords] Many 1970s units are still in heavy use. [ citation needed] In the autumn of 2010, Panasonic announced that the series was to be discontinued. [1] [2] The Technics brand was discontinued at the same time, only to be relaunched in 2014, focusing on higher end and more expensive products. The company was fully aware that Technics was expected to eventually make turntables again, [3] so at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show, Panasonic announced that they would return in two models named "Grand Class": one a limited run of 1200 globally (1200GAE), and the other a consumer product (1200G). A lighter and less expensive 1200GR model was announced. The more affordable and DJ-oriented SL-1200 MK7 followed in 2019. [4] The design was the first time a turntable could absorb the frequencies and vibrations from being played in a loud environments such as clubs and bars. As such, it went on to be the industry standard for DJ’s around the world. A cult status that this 30 year old turntable still holds to this day. The SL-1200 was introduced in 1972 as an evolution to the popular SL-1100. It was dubbed "The Middle Class Player System". It was delivered in two different versions: The SL-1200 came with a tonearm section. The SL-120 came without a tonearm section. An SME tonearm was the usual choice for the audiophile. And in 2016, Technics developed the twin-rotor, surface-facing, coreless direct drive motor with rotor magnets placed on both sides, thereby eliminating the rotation irregularity of the motor, referred to as "cogging," which was a unique issue for direct drive systems. This motor was adopted for the SL-1200G, which once again drew a significant response in the hi-fi market. The SL-1200GR2 inherits the same design philosophy with the new development of a single-rotor, surface-facing, coreless direct drive motor, resulting in the elimination of cogging. Variable pitch control, allowing the rotational speed to be adjusted from -8% to +8% (for the purpose of beatmatching). Option to select -16% to +16% added (M5G/MK5G/GLD, GAE/G/GR & MK7). If the price of the item drops before it's released, you will pay the lower price, but if it increases, you'll only pay the price you see today. Technics SL-1210 owners manual, service manuals and schematics are for reference only and the Vinyl Engine bears no responsibility for errors or other inaccuracies. Reproduction without prior permission or for financial gain is strictly prohibited.
