About this deal

On September 8, a Wired article [2] mentioned two blasters that will be released in fall of 2013: the Stryfe and the Rough Cut 2x4. These blasters, however, were released much sooner than originally expected. The Firestrike, the Strongarm, and the Stryfe were given a soft release in some stores in December of 2013. N-Strike Elite is a direct successor from the popular N-Strike series. Most original releases within the series featured upgraded versions of original N-Strike blasters.

The Barrel Break IX-2, Strongarm, and Jolt are all available under the Toys "R" Us exclusive Sonic FIRE sub-series in clear red plastic instead of the standard opaque blue, including an exclusive color variant of the Elite Darts with red instead of blue bodies, the same color also used by the larger Mega Darts. This blaster was the longest available Dart Tag blaster, from 2004 until 2010/ 2011, when it became significantly less common. The N-Strike Mega series was once a sub-series under the N-Strike Elite series, titled "N-Strike Elite Mega". It became its own series in 2016. Versions of the blasters released in Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, China, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines do not have the advertised seventy-five foot firing range. They received lower performance and gray triggers. To keep with other countries' safety standards, these N-Strike Elite blasters only have a firing range of fifteen meters (about fifty feet). [1]

One other slight downside to this battery-powered blaster is the whirr of the motor and flywheel. If you’re trying to be at all stealthy, that goes out the window when you spin the Hyperfire up – your foe may have a split second’s warning before the darts rain down. Not that it’s terribly noisy; it’s just not silent. Kids can take aim with the Nerf N-Strike Elite HyperFire blaster and challenge opponents with ultimate speed! The Hyperfire is the fastest-firing NERF gun yet. Thanks to a battery-powered motordrive and a 25-shot drum magazine, it can spit out up to five foam darts per second. If 1920s gangsters owned NERF blasters, they’d all be hiding Hyperfires in their violin cases. Unfortunately, the Hyperfire has one big problem when it comes to mods. Unlike traditional flywheelers whose flywheels are parallel, the Hyperfire’s flywheels are canted slightly. This seemingly applies spin to darts, which causes a massive problem–full length darts react very poorly to significant spin. A fast enough spinning full length dart will “helicopter” after a few metres of travel. This “helicopter” phenomenon can typically be seen with rifled faux barrels and Koosh darts, though is relatively uncommon when fired out of ordinary blasters. With the Hyperfire, “helicoptering” of darts is far more common. This problem simply gets worse the further you amp up the motors, as the darts get spun faster and faster. One of the solutions to this is to fabricate a brass dart guide, which will help stop the darts spinning out of control. Most tactical rail accessories, such as the Blast Shield, won't perfectly fit on the Hyperfire. This is due to the size of the Hyperfire's tactical rail, along with its iron sights. The Micro Shots sub-series features Jolt-like blasters molded to look like blasters from multiple series. I have had feed issues with darts and mags that have fed perfectly in my ~15dps Bullpup RS, so for me these issues are inexcusable. Role in Gameplay
