About this deal

The greyness can filter into colours in low-lit content too, making them look flatter than they do during bright scenes, as well as sometimes causing subtle shadow details to be squeezed out of the picture. Watch what's on your TV and your mobile on the same screen at the same time. Whether it's live stats for sports or video guides for games, simply connect your phone and multi-screen like never before. The picture quality of this TV is certainly not entry level, as the price may suggest. Quantum Dot Technology replaces OLED, which was native to the QE60A. Due to this upgrade, the picture quality vastly outperforms the previous model. Quantum Dot and Dual LED give 100% colour volume for a deeper and richer experience, and Quantum HDR expands the range of colour and contrast offered. A much more powerful processor boosts the image to stunning 4K quality. An Affordable QLED TV

When I tune theSAMSUNG QE55Q60BAUXXU to Freesat, I'm prompted to enter my UK Postcode. When I enter my postcode, I receive an error message that "The postcode you entered is not available. Channels will be scanned without a postcode".Also very welcome is a dedicated Gaming Hub in the TV’s menus that pulls together a host of streaming apps, games and services, such as Xbox Game Pass, Twitch and Nvidia Geforce Now. It’s easy to connect controllers to the TV, too, to play via cloud services. You can even clearly hear the TV physically give up the audio ghost during loud movie scenes that rise to a serious crescendo, with its soundstage suddenly becoming quieter rather than continuing to expand with the sound. The Samsung Q60B makes a good first impression on two counts. First, it’s much brighter than the majority of TVs we see in this price category. Bright enough, in fact, to handle high dynamic range sources with genuine conviction – by which we mean that bright scenes, at least, actually look like genuine HDR rather than just like something that’s a bit better than SDR. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) On the premium side, the Quantum Dot color system will hopefully reach color tones, and subtleties regular color filter technology cannot match. In fact, Samsung claims more than a billion shades and 100% coverage of the key DCI-P3 color standard in its Q60B marketing.

Essentially the successes and failures of the Q60B’s picture quality depend on whether you’re watching bright or dark scenes. With the former, the set instantly wins you over with its impressive brightness compared with many of its similarly affordable rivals. It’s often said that you really need at least 500 nits of brightness for anything approaching a ‘true’ HDR experience, and the Q60B is impressively bright for a budget TV, able to produce 573 nits of brightness on a 10% white HDR window in its Standard picture mode during our tests. The thing frame looks premium, but doesn't leave much space for audio power. Samsung's Game Bar shows status of frame rate, HDR and more, as well as offering picture settings for different genres (spoiler: they looked pretty much the same to me). James Martin/CNET Samsung's new Smart Hub puts content curation and discovery front and center, so you spend less time searching and more time streaming movies, shows and other contents you enjoy.
