I do plan to keep writing new books. My first next book will be “American Sparkle”, and I’m in talks with publishers about a 5 book deal. Either way, I will be writing more books. I hope my books and my redemption serve as a reminder that as long as you keep your head held high and stay positive and forge forward and stay focused that anything can be accomplished even in extreme adversity. All I can really say about this is that I enjoyed the Apple+ series much, much more than I did the book on which it's based. That's unusual for me, although it's also kind of rare for me to still seek out the source material after I've watched a movie or series, but I loved the screen adaptation so much I thought I'd like to dig deeper. I said, "Well, that's great." I said, "You're right by me." I said, "You know what? I told you you were a cool guy, and I'm glad that you're by me" and all this and that. And that's when he basically offered sometime if I'd ever want to have breakfast with him and his friends.

At the time, Hall was appealing his conviction for the abduction and murder of a 15-year-old, and there was a possibility he could walk free, and they wanted to ensure that didn't happen.

However, based on the new evidence Keene uncovered, Larry Hall's appeal was denied. Hall remains in prison and has confessed to over twenty murders during his incarceration. Egerton described Keene as being "a really nice guy" who "seemed really pleased and excited and grateful that we were going to such pains to tell his story in the best way we could." In his book, Keene explained that taking part in the operation allowed him to spend five years with his father, who passed away in 2004. Keene has since become an author and has spoken about his experience with media outlets including Dateline. He also works in real estate. Hall’s bizarre grooming was a key element that tied him to many of his suspected victims. Their abductions coincided with “reenactments” at nearby historic battlefields. A dedicated Civil War buff, Hall traveled throughout the country to portray a Union foot soldier and even appeared as a period extra in two films. His muttonchops, emulating those of a Union general, were intended to make his face look as authentic as his uniform and rifle. Now, in April 2023, James Keene just published his third book in the autobiographical franchise and titled it ‘The Chicago Phoenix: Jimmy Keene’s Untold Story’, which follows him prior to going to prison. Reitler's body has still not been found and her family told Dateline that they were frustrated Keene had failed to find out where she was allegedly buried by Hall.It was a life-risking operation and Keene hesitated to accept. But then his stepmother informed him his father had suffered a stroke. Still, on the drive to the prison in Missouri, Keene got cold feet. "I looked at the US marshal, and I said, 'Listen.' I said, 'How do we know Beaumont's going to live up to his word?' They all assured me he would. I said, 'I'm not sure if I can do this.'"
