About this deal

Each story is accompanied by stunning pictures, a hadith, and a lovely prayer. To mention a few, the book contains well-known stories of Khadija, Sawda, ‘Aisha, Safiyyah, Fatima, Maymoonah, and Umm Ayman – may Allah be pleased with them all. On this night, my 13-year-old brother pleasantly surprised me as he narrated the ‘cool stuff’ the companions of the Prophet ﷺ had done in the book. I was amazed at his ability to recount the most intricate parts of the stories, to the extent of mentioning the smallest detail of each companion as related in the book. While we had discussed books from my library before, this was the first time he’d reviewed an Islamic book rather than watching Power Rangers. His thoughtful choice left me in awe. Some people, because of their zeal to do what is right, may act with excessive strictness towards their children. They might stress “no this and no that”… “No! a seven year old should not wear pyjamas, she should be in a night gown…” things like these (unnecessary restrictions for a child’s age and situation). The result on the children is likely to be bad. While, when they are educated and given the choice, they will start to correct themselves. But as long as you are nagging and forcing, they will hate it, and this is the human nature. Don’t ignore this fact. You need to wait for the right time for Allah’s sake. You need to know when to excuse, when to forgive. We need to rectify our relationship with our children because our children are our responsibility. We have responsibilities towards our husbands, for example, but we are not responsible for them. On the Day of Judgement you will be asked if you were a good wife to him but you will not be asked about him. Who will you be asked about? You will be asked about your children. It is a great responsibility, we ask Allah to guide them and we try to do our best. If you take the means and you do what you should do, this will make you feel calm. Allah knows you did all you were able to do. But if the means you took led to your children to repulsion, then you will feel immense regret. Your heart will be squeezed knowing you are one of the reasons for this. One of the reason they may hate to wear hijab, why they hate niqaab, why the hate memorizing Qur’an… imagine feeling it is too late and you were the one who participated in their repulsion! But when you take the means to try to make them love you, and love what you do, and love what you say, and love Qur’an, and love Allah and you are understanding and gentle and you are doing the best you can do, then your duty towards them will be fulfilled. I put it together the first draft in 2015, specifically for my eldest son who hated writing (the past may not be the most appropriate tense choice but, yeah…). All I did was to tidy it up, correct those mistake that I found and consolidate it into one single PDF document. I also used the same material from the original workbook to make a workbook in a format suitable for children for whom writing is not like having their blood drained. So we have: EXPOSING OUR CHILDREN TO MASSIVE FITAN FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR SOCIAL LIFE IS AGAINST THEIR BEST INTEREST.

Please note that the links to the old version of this notebook have been taken down. I have re-written it with new material and in a better format. On another occasion, Prophet Muhammad was on a journey. One day, at noon, Prophet Muhammad chose the shade of a small tree and rested. No, you are wrong, the same Allah will help you also,” said the generous Prophet and let the enemy go free. Sahabiyaat Stories and Dua is a beautifully illustrated compilation of 101 wonderful stories about the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ female companions to inspire young girls. The stories are written in basic language that children may comprehend and connect to. Al-Qaswa was the camel that Prophet (saw) often mounted – in Hajj while traveling to Makkah when he came to Medina, etc. The story of Qaswa starts with a tiny intro of hijrah (which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar) – how Qaswa carried the Prophet (ﷺ) across a desert from Makkah to Medina. Then the story of how she chose a resting place for the Prophet (saw) in Medina and how she accompanied the Prophet (saw) in his 1st and last pilgrimage unfolds one by one. 24) Arabic letters (alif to khaa)

Kindness and Forgiveness

Get up before your children. Snatch that hour even if you have to study in your pyjamas to save yourself the time it would take to get dressed. It is by the mercy of Allah that – with just a handful of hours before the beginning of Ramadan 1439 – I give you the new and improved version of the workbook “Battles of the Prophet” in not one but 2 different formats. Alhamdulillah. Lately, I have been talking about homeschooling with several people I know; Women who have either just taken their child out of school, have decided to start with their little ones or are seriously considering not sending their big kids to secondary school. Each of them is in a very different predicament in terms of the age of her children and the extent of their experience of public school; what they have in common is that they all are entering uncharted territory. Their situations – different as they might be – all remind me of giving birth (and no – not in terms of pain!!!): the decision to take full charge of your child’s education has a certain solemnity to it. You just know that it will forever be intertwined with your experience as a parent. It is thinking about these friends of mine and their families that some reflections started bubbling up to the surface of my conscience. A great podcast that takes its listener on a journey through the Noble Qur’an to better understand the Word of God. Listen to it here.

The story of Dawud (السلام‎ عليه) focuses on bravery who throws a stone at the giant who challenges the whole army to fight him. It also talks about Zaboor and the beautiful voice of prophet Dawud (السلام‎ عليه). Mommying While Muslim is hosted by two American born and bred Muslim mums who share their experiences in raising second-generation kids . They’re acutely aware of the unique challenges their families face on top of the regular messes that all mums share. Prophet (ﷺ) entered the garden of a man from the Ansar. All of a sudden when a Camel saw the Prophet (ﷺ), it wept tenderly producing yearning sound and its eyes flowed. The Prophet (ﷺ) came to it and wiped the temple of its head. So it became silent. He then said “Who is the master of this Camel? Whose Camel is this? A young man from the Ansar came and said “This is mine, Apostle of Allah(ﷺ).” He said “Don’t you fear Allah about this beast which Allah has given in your possession? It has complained to me that you keep it hungry and load it heavily which fatigues it.” [ Sunan Abi Dawud] 3) The gift of sands This is the story of a sahabi – companion of Prophet (ﷺ) – Salman Farsi (رضي الله عنه‎). How he came to Islam after researching many religions in depth. A boy who went on such long journeys that before he reached halfway he had grown into a man. Sometimes the journey was easy. Often – it was hard. But the boy in this story kept going, and in the end, he won his reward and found Islam – the truth. 8) Salah-ad-din and the Frankish boy The brief, uncomplicated stories are wonderfully delivered and illustrate essential values of the Quran, such as love, humility, devotion, patience, and trust. Best-Loved Quran Stories is a fantastic present for any child, full of religion, education, and pleasure.Whenever my eldest one doesn’t want to share anything with her little sister, she says to me “I don’t want to share like that monkey in the Miraj story” 😅 and I ask her –“so what did the monkey learn from the Prophet saw? – that he shared things with others”. I tell her, sharing isn’t an obligation, but sharing brings barakah in your own things too – which means that the happiness you are getting from your things becomes double 💕 even if it doesn’t increase in quantity, it increases in quality through the blessings we get from sharing. And then the kids apply it on me when I’m sitting in one corner sipping on my coconut juice 🙄 4 year old: “Ama share it with us (her and her sister) for more barakah” Me: *takes bigger gulps till their tiny feet reach me* 🤣 Jokes apart, we have to model the behavior we want the kids to adopt. So I share and to be honest – it DOES bring barakah because we all get full with the same coconut nonetheless 🤷🏽‍♀️ 18) The thirsty dog Learning about the Name of Allah Ar-Rafeeq will give us great insight on how Allah commands us to treat the people. Storytelling has the power to not only create connections but provide universal truths about ourselves and the world. Listen to this popular podcast here. This is another story game of the same kangaroo who we have to get ready for prayer – from finding appropriate clothes for him to spreading his prayer mat and choosing the salah steps. 28) Al-Qaswa needs your help

The best stories for children are in the Quran, no doubt about it. The Quran is filled with beautiful narratives that carry so many lessons for our children – of all ages – to learn from. Stories that go beyond time and place and will allow them to grow in their religion and face the challenges of this world, as well as prepare for the Afterlife insha’Allah. But until our children are able to understand the Quran on their own, even with a translation, they will need some help to make sense of the unparalleled Speech of their Lord. This is why so many children’s authors have made it their mission to make those stories accessible to young minds and, at the same time, allow parents to find reliable sources to use for story time, at home or at school. Because the Quran can be difficult for us, adults, to grasp as well, right?

The Young and Muslim Podcast, hosted by Jibreel Salaam & Mohamed Hassan will give you the truth on the Young Muslim American experience. These two best friends give their take and personal experiences in a hilarious fashion that is rarely seen on the topic of Islam.

Because he was changing, for better, the lives of many Arabs and because some Arabs felt that by the teachings of Muhammad their old idols were losing power they disliked Muhammad and planned to kill him. Every time they tried to kill him, they failed. This angered the enemies of Islam even more. So they began to harass him in every way they knew. The story of Ibrahim (السلام‎ عليه) starts with him and his family in the desert. Then the tiny intro of how Makkah came into being and Ramzan sprouted. I loved how Muhammad (saw) named his animals too. It’s said that Al-Qaswa’ was the name of the Prophet’s one of the 3 she-camels; the other two were named Al-Jad`aa and Al-Adbaa’. In this story, the user has to clean the camel, give her water, feed her healthy treats, get her ready for traveling, etc. You can see one of the clips HERE. 29) Arabic numbers (sifr & waahid) Seeing this calm assurance, the enemy was frightened, and the sword fell away from his hands. With the same calm, the Prophet took that sword in his own hand and asked: “Now, you tell me who is there to save you?” We have a lot of evidence on how the Prophet ( salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) treated people: from his wives, to the children, to his little boy servant Anas ibn Malik .
