Chovatelské potřeby, zverimexy a eshopy nabízejí zejména balíčky pro pěstování nebo přímo semínka kočičí trávy (nejčastěji zrna obilovin). K dostání jsou dokonce celé sady kočičí trávy na pěstování (semínka + substrát, případně miska) – nepotřebujete nic víc, snadnější a rychlejší to pěstování již být nemůže. Pěstování od semínka se však dá vyhnout zcela tak, že zakoupíte trávu pro kočky v zahradnictví či květinářství….

Jako kočičí tráva se někdy označují i bylinky pro kočky, především šanta kočičí nebo kozlík lékařský. Jejich vůně kočky zklidňuje nebo povzbuzuje, někdy jsou jejich účinky až omamné.
