About this deal

As Judah navigates a complicated world full of deception, she must discover who she really is and how to wield the tremendous power that she carries within. William French was no genius, and was smart enough to know as much. He was steady and solid, a determined man who’d become a better cop than he had a right to be. It was the same with his marriage. Gabrielle was out of his league on the day they’d met, and still there on the day they’d married. He’d asked her once how someone who’d studied literature at Vanderbilt and lit up every room she entered could possibly settle for a college dropout three years into a job that might get him killed. She’d kissed his cheek, put a hand on his heart, and said, “Don’t ever ask me that again.” Three sons and thirty years later, she was still a gift—his whole life—but she’d lost one son already.

As someone with severe OCD (and someone who at one time struggled to go outside for fear of what might happen), I can honestly say that I found his performance believable and respectful. What’s more I found the rest of the cast’s performances to be on par with David Lipper’s.As I was reading this I was distinctly reminded of another favorite author: Stephen King. And then once I finally realized that Braffet is his daughter in law (I should really get better at reading the full blurb and/or the author profile) it all made sense. Much like when I read King I found myself taking my time reading this (as I’ve mentioned). But also, much like with King, there are scenes that are brutal and difficult to get through. Scenes that are extremely graphic and gruesome. Hello future me. In retrospect, maybe skip to past the plot summary. It's long. And not that interesting. Unless it's enough to save you from rereading this book someday. In that case, please read and weep. He did spend three years in Lanes worth state prison so he had mixed with the hardest of criminals there was one Recce who used to cop the brunt of jokes by Jason by Gibby stands by Jason believing he is innocent was he set up or is something more sinister in the works? Judah could never be mistaken for ordinary. The courtiers of Highfall are either fascinated by her dark beauty or gossip quietly about how she came to be the precious foster sister to Lord Elban’s sons. There is a father, devastated by the loss of his eldest son, compelled to alienate his next son because of his job in law enforcement, and endeavoring to keep his youngest son away from his brother.

Recommend to: This one is a home run for all. I can’t think of a single reason why you shouldn’t read this. Perfect for the book clubs! Lots to discuss.
