The word “terrier” comes from the old french name chien terrier – and translates to “earth dog” – indicating it’s purpose rather than to the breed itself. These dogs were meant to tunnel in search of vermin. They’re simply a dull toothed comb that allows groomers to get a better grip (before stripping knives were widely available groomers would often use a dulled butter knife). Whether he’s on your lap or chasing squirrels, the Peekapoo is a delightful designer dog that’s suitable for a wide range of households. Loyal and affectionate, this breed is attached to his family – so much so that he may be quite protective of you in certain circumstances. Naturally, due to their petite size, they don’t make good guard dogs- but their tendency to act like one will definitely amuse you to no end! By manually removing hairs from the skin you help maintain proper coat texture and color. This is ideal for working breeds such as Terriers.

To achieve the best results position the comb on coat and with light hand pressure comb out in the direction of hair growth. Please be aware any attempt to go against or aside hair growth will cause excessive cutting of hair. Only use once a week or every other week. The blade tips which are curved, are flat and act as a smooth “skid” on the body surface gliding through the hair strands as you “comb”, thus making the whole operation completely safe even in the hands of an inexperienced or first time user. Correctly applied you will find your cat or dog really enjoys the experience.Carding is the first stage of hand stripping where we remove excess undercoat using a ‘carding knife’. This encourages the coat to lay flat which allows for easier hand stripping. Don’t lend to friends! Use only for its intended purpose. Remove any excess hair by hand, or clean with a soft small brush. Avoid damaging blade with misuse. To remove build up of dirt or grease use a mild cleaner or warm water with a mild detergent. Dry thoroughly! The occasional polish with bees or brown wax on the wooden handle will keep in good condition.
