About this deal

Like many of Coppola’s previous films, Priscilla, which stars Cailee Spaeny in the titular role, follows a teenage girl’s coming of age. At age 14, Priscilla meets the 24-year-old Elvis (played by Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi), and he comes to define her entire being, right down to her sky-high bouffant and kohl-rimmed eyes. But not forever: the film reveals how Priscilla carves out an identity outside of her famous lover. By putting the focus on Priscilla, Coppola also offers a look at a side of Elvis rarely portrayed, one that is controlling, abusive, and likely to upset the legend’s biggest fans. (Not to mention, make for a fascinating double-feature with Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis .) Olivia DeJonge portrayed Priscilla in the 2022 biopic Elvis, which starred Austin Butler as her ex-husband and gave a stylized portrayal of his career and their relationship.

Although she never remarried, Presley began living with her boyfriend and Italian screenwriter Marco Garibaldi in 1984. The couple had a son, Navaronne Garibaldi Garcia, in 1987. On September 13, 1959, 14-year old Priscilla Beaulieu met 24-year old Elvis Presley at a party at his home in Bad Nauheim, Germany, which he had rented during his military service. [13] Her presence is said to have made Elvis seem "awkward" and "embarrassed"; however, he composed himself by the end of the evening. [14] Priscilla's late return home on the night of that first meeting upset her parents, who insisted that she never see Elvis again. However, his eagerness for another rendezvous and his promise to never bring her home late again [15] led Priscilla's parents to relent. Thereafter, Priscilla and Elvis were frequently together until his departure from West Germany in March 1960. After Elvis left, Priscilla was inundated with requests for interviews from media outlets around the world. Priscilla received fan mail from Elvis fans, some positive and some negative, as well as mail from "lonesome G.I.s.". With gossip-magazine rumors swirling about his relationship with Nancy Sinatra, Priscilla became convinced that her romance with Elvis was over, and she was concerned she would never see him again. In the memoir’s most harrowing moment, Priscilla describes being summoned to Elvis’s Las Vegas hotel room. She was “filled with curiosity” as to why he wanted to see her since, by this point in 1972, they were living separate lives and had been for months. She wondered if he wanted to have a real discussion about their marriage. But when she arrived, she found an intoxicated Elvis lying in bed. “He grabbed me and forcefully made love to me,” Priscilla writes. “It was uncomfortable and unlike any other time he’d ever made love to me before, and he explained, ‘This is how a real man makes love to his woman.’”Presley had originally been offered a role as one of the angels on Charlie's Angels. She turned down the role because she disliked the show. [82] Presley made her television debut as co-host of Those Amazing Animals in 1980. [71] [83] In 1983, she had her first professional acting role on a season 2 episode of The Fall Guy titled "Manhunter". [18] She then went on to play in a television film titled Love is Forever, starring alongside Michael Landon. [84] Although she was treated well by most of the cast and crew, and her acting was praised by several of her co-stars, she found Landon difficult to work with on set. After the television film aired, Presley took on the role of Jenna Wade in the soap opera Dallas. As the third actor portraying Jenna, she played the role for the longest of the three. In 1988 after five years, Presley left the show. Also during her tenure on the series, she was offered the role of Bond girl Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill (1985), but due to scheduling conflicts, she had to decline the role. His Air Force career moved them from Connecticut to New Mexico to Maine. She described herself of that time as “a shy, pretty, little girl, unhappily accustomed to moving from base to base every two or three years.” She later recalled how uneasy it was for her to move so often, never knowing whether she would make long-term friends or if she would be at ease with the people she would meet at the next place.
