When Rhinox had his personality program converted to that of a Predacon, he started surreptitiously taking out the various Predacons. He swung a cargo crate into Waspinator, giving him a concussion. As a result, Waspy flew around in a daze, claiming to be the Insecticon Shrapnel as well as the great Wonko the Sane. This dementia was apparently reversed when Cheetor later got annoyed at his yammering and shot him down. One of Waspinator's stray shots subsequently hit the Transmuter, causing it to explode. Ever wonder why Waspinator became the whipping boy of Beast Wars? Early in the series, his buzzing, drawling method of speaking frustrated story editors Larry DiTillio and Bob Forward, as they found it was taking up too much time out of the episodes. Working alongside local guide Darksteel, Terrorsaur encountered a group of Slicers, which were revealed to be the handiwork of their quarry; successfully convincing the skeptical Builder to work alongside Megatron, Leatherhide and Terrorsaur returned to Megatron's base of operations to further their experiments. The gambit paid off when Leatherhide proved able to successfully hybridize Cybertronians with mechanimals, creating Formikon as the first Transformer to have undergone the " Beast Upgrade." Terrorsaur was one of the last members of Megatron's inner retinue to undergo the process, but, after Leatherhide forcibly shoved the fearful Predacon into the machine, Terrorsaur safely emerged, pleased by his new beast mode.
