About this deal

With the newly developed attachment construction, FENDOR BENDOR Big is now completely self supported and therefore possible to mount on bikes without the sideway support of the seat stays or the support of a brake bridge. You could also mount it above your caliper brake to avoid interference with the brake. In summary, mudguards can be a true game-changer for gravel bike enthusiasts who venture out in wet weather. By exploring various options and considering their needs and preferences, riders can find the perfect fender setup to enhance their comfort and enjoyment on their off-road adventures. Different Mudguard Options for All Types of Bikes and Budgets

Fit: The Fendor Bendor fits all frames with standard seat stays. It's self supportive and doesn't require support from the brake bridge or the seat stays. It can also be mounted directly on a seat post (as low as possible for best effect). The Fendor Bendor will not fit if you have monostay frame or center pull brake. I preferred the 55cm long x 8cm wide Big version (over the 54×6.5cm regular) because more is better. My gravel & road tires keep getting wider, and an extra 10g up to 60g is inconsequential with the promise of a bit of extra coverage. Both cost just 15€ too, so price isn’t an issue either. Read more: Ass Savers Fendor Bendor Big rear gravel mudguard full review Gravel fenders / mudguards: Things to think aboutFor those who prioritize full mud and water protection and don’t mind spending a bit more, full-length mudguards are an excellent option. These mudguards provide more comprehensive coverage, keeping you dry from head to toe and maintaining your gravel bike frame and components in better condition. Full-length mudguards usually come with mounting materials, struts kits, and sometimes even stainless steel fixed bridges for added durability. The SKS Bluemels Reflective Mudguards are a popular option, with sizes to fit tires ranging from 28-47mm and the additional ASR system for extra protection in case of wheel jams. With the wide variety of styles and fitments available, there is almost certainly a mudguard that will fit on your gravel bike. Some mudguards require the frame and fork to have specific mounts, whereas others fasten to the bike without the need for mounting points, so whatever bike you have there is no need to endure a wet and dirty ride. How we test While aero gains aren’t everything, it hurts my brain a bit to see this air dam strapped to my downtube. It’s definitely not something I would keep on the bike, even when the skies are clear & sunny. Speed Mullet Features

The thing with the Fendor Bendor Big is that you do still have to squeeze it between the seatstays. Every bike I’ve used it on has had a seatstay bridge, and it’s been relatively tight to fit it in that tiny triangle. That also means that I couldn’t get it any closer to the rear tire. As we saw on both of the front fenders, the closer I could get the thing to the tire, the better they did with catching wheel spray. Protection level is another practical aspect that you need to think about. Various mudguard styles range from minimalist strap-on guards that provide basic protection to extensive full-length mudguards that shield you and your bike from head to toe. Choose the level of coverage that fits your needs, whether it’s just to keep your face clean or to protect both you and your bike from dirt, mud, and water.

The FENDOR BENDOR Big gets the dirty job done. The all new attachment makes fitting without tools a breeze, to virtually every bike in just a few seconds. Another pitfall to be aware of is clearance on the other side of the guards: i.e., how nicely they play with your bags and feet. On smaller frames especially, toe overlap with the front fender / mudguard and giant saddle bags fighting for position with the rear mudguard are real issues. Clearance can be an issue, as the added layer of protection around the tires can require extra space, and not all off-road bikes have sufficient clearance for mudguards, especially with chunkier tires. Riders might need to downsize their tires or switch to a smaller wheel size for compatibility with mudguards. We got our hands on some of these new gravel mudguards, and even a couple classics,to test them out on a variety of gravel bikes and conditions. While our Southern California climate may not highlight some of their key benefits, overall the gravel specific Ass Saver lineup easily impressed on design, function and durability. Products tested: While mountain bikers are used to mud, gravel bikers face a different challenge. Anyone who has ridden on a wet gravel road is familiar with the mixture of fine sand and water that seems to be designed especially to seek and destroy bearings, not to mention what it does to your eyes on a long ride. The 12€ Mullet is 39cm long and weighs just 30g. It gets some a few, slightly more complicated folds to create a forward facing cupped design to catch as much spray as possible. It also has well designed and placed rubber pads that hold it securely in place while also letting it work with externally shift wire & full-length brake housing. Mudguards come in various options to accommodate different preferences, budgets, and bike types. Minimalist, strap-on mudguards can provide some relief from the mud and water spray while full-length fenders offer more comprehensive protection from head-to-toe. By keeping riders more comfortable throughout their ride, mudguards can prevent chill and discomfort from damp clothing and eliminate the unpleasant experience of a muddy face and rear end. In addition, mudguards will add weight to the bike, but the trade-off in comfort and protection is often worth it.

But that leads us into the next little plastic fender to strap onto your bike… Ass Savers Speed Mullet strap-on plastic front wheel /shoes fender strength. Take extra care to fold down the outer edges to make sure your Fendor Bendor is functioning properly.

For those on a budget, the Zefal Shield G50 fenders offer impressive performance at a lower price point. These sturdy mudguards can accommodate large volume tires up to 50mm wide and provide decent coverage for their size. However, installation can be time-consuming and might require an extra pair of hands to ensure a tight and secure fit. First up is the Ass Savers Mudder Mini mudguard, which offers a minimal yet effective solution for riders who prefer a discreet and lightweight front fender. Weighing just 21 grams, this mudguard is very easy to install without any tools, thanks to its anti-slip straps that ensure a secure fit on all fork sizes. Despite its small size, the Mudder Mini offers adequate protection from road spray, keeping you relatively clean on wet and muddy rides. Visually the Detour Kollection is inspired by the mind-blowing scenery of the Torino-Nice Rally, a 700 km selfsustained gravel event in the French-Italian alps. During the 2018 edition, designer Jesper Jonsson and Ass Savers founder Staffan Widell shared a bivouac on the last night of the event, overlooking a spectacular sunset over the last mountain range before the finish in Nice. The specially designed straps have enough friction to prevent the mudguard from sliding down on a conic fork leg. However, it needs to be tighten firmly to stay up. The open ended design of the strap will allow you to adjust the length and thereby center the position of the ASS SAVERS logo on the fork leg. You can also inverse the strap if you prefer to have a no-logo appearance. It’s essential to consider factors such as the type of terrain you generally ride on and the climate and weather conditions in your area. If you frequently ride on wet and muddy trails, both front and rear mudguards might be necessary for optimal protection. However, if your rides tend to be drier and less prone to mud and debris, you may find that one type of mudguard is sufficient for your needs.
