About this deal

As a young boy, Diogenes Alejandro Xenos (“Dax”) witnesses the brutal rape and murder of his mother and sister by government troops—experiencing the drama of revolution, loss, and tragedy firsthand. He is sent to Europe by the victorious rebel leader to rebuild his country’s diplomatic and financial status post-revolution, and is immediately thrown into the elite environment of Europe’s jet set society of international bankers and diplomats. This epic tale of escape from the horrors of a third world regime is one of Harold Robbins' most ambitious novels ever, combining his trademark sensuality with political intrigue, a globe-spanning variety of exotic locales, and themes that never seem to change—political intrigue, greed, power, money, violence, sex and betrayal.

From the author of The New York Times #1 best-selling novel The Carpetbaggers comes a tale of violence, sex, betrayal, revenge and intrigue. The Adventurers is a story of revolution and danger in the sultry jungles of South America. I loved getting to know the characters and holding my breath when they were in danger. There is intrigue, danger, excitement, and loss in this book along with themes of friendship and what it means to be loyal. I can't wait to read book 2.

Also, this was a GREAT spooky book for October. The scenes with the monsters had my heart beating fast because the tension was written so well. Like these two could write some darn good thrillers. It was also so well balanced with the happy scenes. It wasn't a scary book, just a fantasy book with intense scenes. And that's such a hard combination to strike! You can usually only find fantasy books or horror books, no crossover between the two. This was so perfect for an October read. It's a little bit like Divergent with the city separated into guilds, each with a different job to perform. It also reminded me of Harry Potter with the magic, a young mage, and a group of tight-knit friends battling magical creatures and solving a mystery the adults can't. a b c d e f "The Adventurers - History". Liza ist wie Hermine ein unglaublich selbstbewusste und intelligente kleine Person. Sie wuchs als Adelige auf und überzeugt durch überaus „schlagkräftige“ Argumente ;-) This epic tale of escape from the horrors of a third world regime is one of Harold Robbins' most ambitious novels ever, combining his trademark sensuality with political intrigue, a globe-spanning variety of exotic locales, and themes that never seem to change—political intrigue, greed, power, money, violence, sex and betrayal. I read my way through his catalogue as young man when the stories were still freshly minted. The Adventures was one I read many times. It was captivating, titillating, and engrossing all at the same time. Ein schöner Gedanke“, sagte Frond und zog mehrere Gegenstände aus dem Gürtel:flache, metallische Kreise, die mit Klingen besetzt waren. Director Lewis Gilbert said on June 25, 2010, on the BBC radio program Desert Island Discs, that The Adventurers was "a big, sprawling, very expensive film which was a disaster. I should never have made it. It's one I'm not proud of." [15] Home media [ edit ]

Dax Xenos, a ten-year old boy in the South American country of Corteguay, witnesses the rape and murder of his mother by government soldiers and runs to his father, Jaime, who is with a band of revolutionaries. Jaime's men capture the government soldiers, give Dax the privilege of personally executing his mother's murderers, and then take the boy to their hideout in the mountains where he meets Amparo, the daughter of revolutionary leader Rojo. After the rebels oust the dictator and establish Rojo as president, Dax accompanies his father to Rome, where Jaime is to serve as ambassador.I am so tired of series and cliff-hangers, but at 80% through, I was hoping, begging, for there to be a sequel. I can't get enough of these characters, both kids and adults. (I'm happy to report this wasn't a cliff-hanger, not really -- it ended more in a teaser for the next book, which followed an exiting climax). Perfect! Our pupils were hooked… every bookworm’s perfect day.” Headteacher, Kemsing Primary School School Visits Many years ago a Mage did the unthinkable and opened a portal to another world, letting in an array of deadly creatures that reeked havoc and killed many. Years later the people are confined to their Kingdoms protected by wards, not venturing out beyond their great walls in fear of what still inhabits their world.

The other star of The Adventurers is Ozzy. If he hadn’t eaten that thing (I’m not spoiling it because it’s hilarious), Kendall and Joey might never have met. The Writing Style Joey walked in the clinic, looking around. The waiting area was cozy but clean, and the walls were littered with pictures of dogs and cats and bunnies and… was that an iguana? The Adventurers Guild is the most dangerous guild in Freestone, one of the last remaining cities. Those who join usually die young, fighting off the monsters that live beyond the wall. So when Zed Kagari, a young sorcerer, is drafted, he's not exactly happy about the situation. His best friend volunteers to join as well, following Zed into the most dangerous adventure of their lifetime. While at the guild they meet Liza, a whip-smart, well-trained noble, and Jett, a brave and kind dwarf. Together the band of recruits must work together to save the city from the dangers lurking outside the walls and within. Neil Gaiman came up with the idea for this book when he miswrote “Caroline” as “Coraline” one day. In this dark fantasy novella, Coraline Jones moves into an old house with a mysterious door. A neighbor tells her: “Don’t go through the door.” Of course, Coraline goes through the door — only to find a world that she could never have imagined.Thompson, Howard (March 26, 1970).
