About this deal

That said, 32-inches is easily my favorite screen size for gaming. After a couple of days, I adapted to the larger format and could begin sinking in to enjoy what I feel is a genuinely more immersive game experience. The extra screen real estate really does help to draw you into the game, especially in first-person shooters and RPGs like Skyrim. Information about the brightness of the screen. It is measured in candela per square metre (cd/m²). The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. title=More%20Expert%20Tech%20Roundups&type=articles%2Cvideos&tags=tech-roundup&count=4&columnCount=4&theme=article

Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. Ghosting is a bit of an issue with the Optix MAG321QR-QD. While I don’t notice it in my usual gaming sessions – again, I’m no professional gamer – slight ghosting can be seen in UFO Test’s ghosting tool. If you’re sensitive to ghosting, it’s worth keeping this in mind. Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. Good response time is paramount for a gaming-centric monitor, and in the case of the MAG321QR-QD, it feels responsive enough to not hinder my gaming experience. Granted, I’m not a competitive gamer, but MSI’s quoted 1ms response time does seem to hold water here.Approximate width of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. Finally, we come to the bread and butter of this display: the panel. MSI has opted for a VA panel here which offers better colors, contrast, and viewing angles than the TN panels usually used in gaming monitors. They’re a touch slower and more likely to result in ghosting, though companies have gotten quite good at driving VAs to be fast enough for competitive gaming. In fact, MSI quotes a response time of 1ms, which is identical to competitive TN panels. Like Battlefield V, the real benefit came in just how smooth gameplay was. If Battlefield V is about the “rough and tumble,” APEX is about the flow. With my RTX 2080, I was able to push upwards of 120 FPS consistently which G-Sync was able to control and make super smooth. Sliding down a hill in a mad rush to beat an enemy team at a fully synced 120+ FPS is a glorious thing.

Ergonomics Information about the ergonomic functions - height adjustment, swivel angles, tilt angles, etc. VESA mount We tried out the room light sensor for a few gaming sessions. It subtly manipulates brightness and color temp to balance the image with ambient light. It takes a few seconds to settle into a consistent state and in our office environment, it produced a decent picture. If you have a sunny window like we do, it can be effective. The color temp was sometimes too cool for our liking, but brightness always seemed ideal. The MSI MAG 321CQR features a 2560x1440 resolution (1440p or “2K”) with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Tech writing has privileged me with the ability to try just about every major resolution and refresh rate popular on the market today and I firmly believe that this is the sweet spot for price, performance, and visuals. While 4K gaming might be tempting, the performance demands are huge. Even with two 2080 Tis, it can be a struggle to get new games to run at a consistent 60 FPS at 4K (I’m looking at you Rage 2). HDR in Windows works well at default settings and it doesn’t make the picture harsh or overly bright. Though it can be used all the time, we thought most productivity apps were easier to manage in SDR mode. It was nice to have sRGB, Adobe RGB and Display P3 color modes when needed in Photoshop or video editing apps. They are accurate enough for critical work. All in all, I still think the MSI Optix MAG321QR-QD is an easy gaming monitor to recommend, especially for folks who are looking for a relatively large 31.5-inch QHD gaming monitor with a reasonably high 170Hz refresh rate. It may not have a sharp 4K resolution or a blazing fast refresh rate beyond 200Hz, but for only RM1,799, you’re getting good value for your money. I also wish that you were able to lower the display more. If I’m turning my head, usually it’s to look up and being able to move it just an inch or two lower would really help with that. Thankfully, the monitor supports VESA mounting, so it’s compatible with most aftermarket stands and mounts. In Professional, there are eight color modes. The ones labeled sRGB, Adobe RGB and Display P3 accurately display those gamuts. They are the best way to control the MPG321UR-QD’s color gamut volume. HDCR is a dynamic contrast option that effectively broadens the dynamic range, but it makes some content very bright. We used it for gaming but in Windows, it’s too harsh. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area.
