About this deal

Tsuyoshi Mukouda (a.k.a. "Mukohda") is summoned from Japan to an alternate world with three others to become heroes of the Reijseger Kingdom. Unlike the others who have skills in swordsmanship and magic, Mukohda only possesses the "Online Grocery" skill which lets him spend money to buy food and other products online from Japan. Uninterested in becoming a hero and sensing that the Reijseger royals are untrustworthy, Mukohda convinces them his skill is useless and accepts money to quietly disappear. Confirming the royals are tyrants, Mukohda abandons Reijseger and hires Werner and his Iron Will adventurers to escort him to the neighboring Veenen Kingdom. Mukohda provides them food from his skill and prepares meals on a modern camping stove. Mukohda discovers Japanese ingredients boost health and magic and decides to use only ingredients foraged by hand in case people discover his skill and try to take advantage. One night, Mukohda’s cooking attracts a Fenrir, a legendary wolf monster, who demands to taste the food. The Fenrir is so impressed he insists on becoming Mukohda’s contracted familiar in exchange for three meals a day. Calculating the cost of feeding his new Fenrir, Mukohda realizes he needs employment immediately. The Alliance: By volume 7, the Demonfolks and the kingdom of Marveil have joined forces against Reijseger after having grown fed-up with Reijseger's shameless territory grab on both of them. The result is likely to be a Curb-Stomp Battle on Reijseger. Which has happened by volume 9, Reijseger being overrun and annexed by Marveil.

The most surprising aspect is of the animation studio chosen, because generally studios are only contracted for the production jobs they are offered for all kinds of shows, and in Cooking Isekai's case, it's MAPPA driving the wheel for this show, under one of its low-key directors of Kiyoshi Matsuda. The director for MAPPA's rather subpar shows like Kakegurui×× (Season 2), Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?, and most recently with Summer 2021's Re-Main (co-director with chief Masafumi Nishida), it doesn't feel like this man should be given the more recent high/top-priority shows like Chainsaw Man or Jigokuraku a.k.a Hell's Paradise, simply because his work ethic would not suit this show that he's working on. Nevertheless, the MAPPA magic shines here just the same like in the famed studio's recent shows, with gorgeous visuals and beautiful animation, especially in the cooking segments that will make one salivate at the mouth. Since when did food become so good to look at, since Isekai Shokudou and Shokugeki no Soma, that this show feels like a wild ride in fusing modern inventions for a medieval world. It's that engrossing in style and substance. I'm curious where Mukohda's fate takes him and I'm sure it'll be quite an interesting and fun adventure! a b c d Hodgkins, Crystalyn (October 29, 2022). "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill Novels Get TV Anime by MAPPA in January". Anime News Network . Retrieved October 29, 2022. While his "Online Supermarket" skill did allow him to obtain better condiments and ingredients than those available in the new world, what drew his immensely powerful familiars toward him and made them decide to forge a contract with him wasn't any kind of flashy skill or New Life in Another World Bonus, but that he impressed them with delicious food that he made without any special abilities, and was kind enough to share it with them. The main issue is when the producers actually secretly greenlit the production before making the decision public in October 2023. Just because an announcement was made does not necessarily mean that production has already begun.

Mukouda Tsuyoshi was nothing special in modern Japan, so when he was summoned to a world of swordplay and sorcery, he thought he was ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Too bad the kingdom that summoned him only got him by mistake! Not only was he not one of the three summoned heroes, but his stats were laughable compared to theirs. On top of that, there's something really sketchy about this kingdom… "Ah, these people are the kind to try and use the Hero," he realized, and immediately left to make his own way in this other world. Appraisal for level one users only displays the target's name. It was only around level twenty that Appraisal gave Mukohda a moderately detailed description of his targets. The Ace: Fel is this by far. Not only is he a Magic Knight, with access to skills that range from typical elemental magics to Holy Hand Grenade spells, his stats are also all in the nine-thousands! The Holy Kingdom of Rubanov and its vassal state the Kingdom of Solace. They are essentially a Corrupt Church built upon ideologies of hate and discrimination.
