Active Hands aids are both kind to the skin and made to last. Built from tough webbing and comfortable but durable neoprene (wet suit material) they’re designed to withstand regular use, even for strenuous activities. All our aids are machine washable! The Active Hands gripping aid is designed to help disabled people with limited hand function take part in activities and everyday tasks. If you have had a stroke, suffered a spinal injury or developed a condition that affects your hand function, the Active Hands gripping aid can help you to maintain your independence. For many young children, Active Hands Mini aids are an essential extra for an adaptive tricycle, helping them hold onto the handlebars tightly and securely, but they might find them equally useful for a variety of other play activities. If you want your tape in pre-cut strips/shapes with rounded corners then the grip kit is ideal. The set contains 26 pieces in a variety of sizes.My disability didn’t make things easy, getting a grip on the erg handle, the left oar and the weights was difficult but my coach gave me a bag of Active Hands gripping aids and it made physical activity possible again. The Hook aid comes with 4 silicone tubes for optional use. The Hook aid can be used without these and this may be the preferred way when gripping some items such as rubberised, foam covered or padded bars. However, if preferred, these silicone tubes can be added to both of the 2 pronged hooks (4 in total). The tubes will give a level of padding, increase grip (preventing metal to metal slipping on some gripped items), and reduce rotation of the gripped object. Please remember they will also slightly reduce the internal diameter of the hook and once added they may not be easily removed. However, we have found in most situations they improve the performance of the hooks. The tubing can be added by applying a drop of hand soap down the tube and twisting the tubes as you push them on (you may require assistance with this). Neoprene Adjustments With reduced hand function it is easy to loose grip on an item and send it flying or plummeting to the floor. The Cat Tongue grip tape and grip kit can help prevent these accidents. You can add grip to any item – try it on drinks bottles, coffee mugs, wheelchair foot plates, cameras and tools. It’s also great for stopping storage boxes moving around the boot of your car.

For many sports you need to hold a racquet or bat at an angle and, while our General Purpose aid is great, it doesn’t allow you to do that. So we have designed the Angled aid.

Or, if you prefer the great outdoors, they’re also an essential extra for some hand bikes.
