The celebrations continue into the Monday of the bank holiday weekend when we’ll be encouraged to volunteer in our local areas, as part of The Big Help Out. The aim of this event is to use volunteering to bring communities together, creating a lasting legacy from the Coronation Weekend with a boost of community spirit! The crowning glory of any party is surely the food! Do your country proud and pile your tables and plates high. Whether you’re thinking of throwing a small gathering for the family or a bigger bash with your friends and neighbours, there are tons of ways to make it a day to remember. Could this be the biggest community get together in British history? The Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday 7 th May will brings millions of people together to share food and fun together, with street parties, picnics, barbeques, tea parties taking place across the country. Draw and cut out a large diamond from a piece of A4 paper or card. Use this as a template to cut out diamonds from red, white and blue paper tablecloths.

The official recipes for the event have been announced. For anyone with a sweet tooth, the royal recommendation is a recipe for strawberry and ginger trifle – sounds zingy! This cake is best served fresh on the day because of the fruit and cream, but can last 1-2 days in the fridge if needed! Paint wooden pegs in red, white and blue. Leave to dry then write on ‘Royal Wedding’ with a permanent marker pen. Step 1 – Pour the double cream into a bowl with a few drops of vanilla extract. Whip until stiff peaks start to form. Transfer the bowl to the fridge. The King's Coronation is edging ever closer and many of us will be breaking out the bunting – or making our own – putting together paper crowns and dusting down our best tea sets to celebrate this historic occasion.
When can we look forward to the coronation of the New King? The coronation service for King Charles III will be held on 6th May, in the spring/summer season of 2023. The event will be scheduled close to the 70th anniversary of the former Queen’s coronation in 1953. A bank holiday in the UK is set to be announced for the state event in due course, giving us all a chance to get involved with this historic event and celebrate the coronation of the new King.
