Yes you'll die often, that's the point, you keep trying, you level up, you become better, learning enemy patterns, discover new ways to defeat your enemies and it's monumentally rewarding. Is the game everything we all hoped for and more?’ Is what I would usually tease you all with at this point, you know, to bait you into reading the review. But: YES OMG YES THE GAME IS AMAZING! Anyway…

I have been incredibly impressed with everything that I have seen in Elden Ring so far. Even after all this time with it, there are still things I am seeing for the first time. Large new areas to discover, NPC questlines to follow, bosses to fight, caves to explore, and just things to do. For the Soulsborne Players or New Players? My last note on the game, is that FromSoftware seems to have some major issues realizing what makes their games great, mainly the exploration factor, and in their attempt to branch out to a wider audience with Elden Ring, they massively failed. We all love beating that challenging boss, but a few bosses in Elden Ring are outright egregious to take on, and require abusing the hell out of the devs overlooked items/weapons/cheeses etc that might make things just a tad easier, before it gets patched a week later because FromSoftware has either lost touch with what makes their games great, or more likely, they hide their failings as a developer by distracting us with difficult bosses, so we forget the fact that they can’t tell a story to save their lives, even when one of the world’s most famous authors wrote the story for them. Elden Ring is FromSoftware taming the monster they created, not by filing down its teeth and claws, but by giving players the weapons and armor to endure it.

So, the game is naturally accommodating to both new players and experienced players. You can easily tailor the challenge depending on how stubborn you are. You may choose to overcome a particular area or boss without hopping elsewhere if it’s proving tough. It also helps that the game is incredibly generous with the number of ways you can adapt your character. There are different builds, each having many choices of weapons, equipment, abilities, and spells available to boon your adventure. The Lands Between… In addition to customizing the appearance of your character, you can freely combine the weapons, armor, and magic that you equip. You can develop your character according to your play style, such as increasing your muscle strength to become a strong warrior, or mastering magic. Although it is FROM's first open-world project, the studio has surprised the gaming community with its mastery of open-world design. Is Elden Ring Too Difficult?Players will be able to enjoy their experience with other Tarnished in the LANDS BETWEEN by cooperating or invading other players' worlds. It is always a mix of fear and joy when you are casually slaying minions and a half-decayed, bizarrely proportioned, mutated bird-like creature climbs over a ruined building and shrieks at you. The “oh sh*t! oh sh*t!” moments are what really make these games shine. Jumping! In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered. Additionally, this downgrade means that other aspects of your experience won’t be as good as they would be if you played the true PS5 version of Elden Ring. Try dozens of skills and find one to best suit your style. Practice stealth to avoid danger or catch enemies unaware. Use the environment, the weather, and the time of day to gain an advantage. Learn the art of combat , where you must read your enemy’s intentions and a well-timed dodge or parry could be the difference between life and death. Ride your steed into battle against mounted mercenaries and cut them from their horses. Master arcane spells from the masters that still linger among the ruins of the war. Summon familiar spirits to even the odds against you or call on your fellow Tarnished to fight at your side and share the burden as you explore. In the grand fields where your journey begins, mythic creatures prowl the veldts, ineffable horrors lurk in the bogs and marshes, and all manner of soldiers and itinerant warriors are waiting for those who wander unawares. Shy creatures nibble on sweet grasses or scuttle through the underbrush. With the world so open for you to explore, another incredibly welcome feature is having the chance to refill your flasks. After defeating a group of enemies, there is a chance it will trigger the refill of a combination of health and/or magic flasks (depending on the enemy type). This can be the burst of encouragement you need after taking down a tough group. Encouraging you to go on, delve further, and explore more without retreating. Multiplayer… You also get disconnected from your friend when you beat a boss or great enemy together. That's if you don't get a "disconnected from PlayStation network error." first.....even though you're using voice chat on the PlayStation network and it never drops out. As of today, I finally finished Elden Ring after putting a whopping 223 hours into the game. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel like spending that much time on a game grants me the slightest bit of entitlement to consider myself a pretty fair judge on everything the game has to offer, so I’ll start with the positives, followed by the negatives, and I’ll try and note specifics along the way.
