About this deal

Meet Katharina von Bora through this historical fiction describing in her own words the romance she shared with Martin Luther. It may have blazed a trail for "bizarre shit", but in Luther's 18-month absence, terrifying TV has become far creepier, and far more common.

The book delves into the story that dominates the first series and ruins Luther’s life, the case of child killer John Marsden. His writing style makes it easy to read and leaves the reader always wanting a little more, while not rushing anything.

This story tells of the events that lead up to Luther’s suspension, break down and the dissolution of his relationship with his wife. I can't give much away when it comes to the plot because it would all be spoilers for the tv series, but let us just say Luther is trying his best to save a newborn baby from the hands of a pedophile.

This is a vivid, scholarly and empathetic biography of Martin Luther, which will be essential reading for all students of the European Reformation, early modern history and religious history. The writing style threw me to start with; not only is it written in the present tense, which took a little getting used to, but an English pureist would have a field day pulling apart some of the sentence stucture. London is a city full of life, vigour, and energy, but also has a dark underbelly where murders and other violent crimes surface on a regular basis. The novel expands on and explains several elements of the TV series, such as the breakup of the Luthers' marriage, and the corruption of DCI Ian Reed.Rob Farquhar of the Carins Post commended Neil Cross on the creation of DCI John Luther describing Luther as a man "possessed of brilliance and by an animal ferocity that he keeps from all but the monsters he seeks out".
