About this deal

From climate change to animal conservation, these picture books, poetry collections, novels and graphic novels will encourage children and young people to think about and discuss pressing issues about the environment. The Window is a stunning example of collage work which may inspire creativity in illustrations of children. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. Thereafter, we watch Pete, see what unfolds, and then draw a greater understanding of him and his setting.

Tidy tackles the theme of caring for the environment from the unusual viewpoint of being overzealous and taking tidying too far. Pete the Badger’s efforts to keep the forest clean, result in a lesson about the balance and interdependence of the natural world. It would be interesting to find out if any other behaviour traits found in the wild animals are also found in the fictional badgers.Pete is not the reliable source of wisdom and good sense that have been attributed to badgers in other stories. We see the result in a shocking double page spread: a mountain of black bin bags dwarves the starkly naked trees. Emily Gravett is twice winner of the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and the Nestlé Children's Book Prize Bronze Award for Wolves and Little Mouse's Big Book Of Fears. It seems Emily Gravett creates stories that linger, make us think alongside being visually glorious.

You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Thereafter, as Pete’s Tidy begins with just one leaf, we see how this tiny step affects something else.Emily Gravett’s engaging woodland creatures will appeal to fans of such classics as The Animals of Farthing Wood and The Wind in the Willows and the rhythmic, rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud. He is allowed to have a small part of it back with the proviso that it is shared, and we all take care of it. Daily Mail This beautiful book, illustrated in warm tones, is full of expressive, characterful animals and tells a charming story. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books.

Pete hoovering up the catalogue reference on the final page of Tidy suggests that he hasn’t reformed entirely and is always going to be tempted to interfere with things that should be left alone. Sunday Times If you haven't discovered the brilliant wit and inventiveness of award- winning Emily Gravett yet, then this superbly illustrated rhyming adventure is a great place to start. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything.Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. Gravett's familiar minor cast of bemused bunnies and dishevelled foxes pop up throughout and the pictures are packed with comic detail.
