About this deal

Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids. It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service. After a year of fighting and adapting we are back, and the bang is better and sweeter than we could ever imagine! Also reshaping creativity as problem solving, we often label ourselves as uncreative because we aren't naturally 'arty' but creativity is far broader than imagery, it's imagining something differently.

Anya Hindmarch is a world famous businesswoman, entrepreneur, CEO, and a mother to five children (3 of whom are her step children who she's looked after since they were small). Ring the bell when it goes well, crack open a nice bottle when you've achieved something wonderful, be sad but resilient when you haven't.

And also that I constantly worry how I don't mess up at parenting because I not only realise how important a role of a parent is + how the kind of relationship you build with them growing up is going to determine the kind of relationship they have with you when you are old. Also, its business advice seemed to be not very follow-able unless you are cut from the same cloth as Anya, enjoying the organisation and execution of massive creative projects. And it’s with this honest and open approach that she goes on to detail her battles with anxiety and her life spent building a business. She shares her journey in life an in business, and you really feel like you get to know her and what drives her. If I am part of a 'transition generation' in which we women are trying to live up to our mothers' examples, despite now often working as hard as our fathers did; likewise men are often subconsciously following the patterns set by their fathers.

XD Anyway, so in here she kind of outlines how she has been able to function and manage her life - which includes shouldering the responsibilities not only at her work but also looking after her 5 children, husband and herself. If you don't take care of yourself first then you won't be able to give your full potential to others including your children. Life will always have ebbs and flows and being honest about these and using over communication to ensure everyone is aware of what is happening resonated with me, as often it's through communication (or lack thereof/breakdown in communication) that the problems arise.Unlike most business books, it is chock-full of anecdotes, humour, and Anya’s blazing love for her family. I’ve just finished reading the first book from If in doubt, wash your hair from the very talented handbag and accessories designer Anya Hindmarch. If it's fun and something you enjoy but doesn't have a market (won't bring in money) then it's a hobby not a business. Being organised is critical to running a business and critical to running a family, and becomes essential when you manage both. I don't think it's a coincidence that you can't pick up your phone when your hands are covered in dough or clay, or busy weaving. All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! There’s no trauma, grief or suicide here, just Anya’s common sense advice on how to live a more fulfilling life. From practical tips and quick fixes to profound observations about confidence and creativity, this inspiring handbook will show you how to live a little better - and why sometimes, the answer can be as simple as washing your hair. These may include creased cover, inscriptions or small amounts of writing, fanned edge, ripped or tatty dustjacket, and other signs of being read. In these pages, Anya shares what she has learned during her busy and eclectic life as a mother, stepmother, entrepreneur and businesswoman, what she still worries about, and what advice she has received along the way. You can define your brand all you like, but it actually means nothing if it is at odds with your behaviour - with all what is said and done and how it is done, repeatedly day after day. Entrepreneurs are more doers than reading through tons of small print (hat's what you hire lawyers etc for). I really enjoyed the first 80-odd pages of the book, and found myself thinking 'this author is a Wise Person'.

Perhaps if I was in Anya Hindmarchs friend circle I would have found this relatable or insightful, but it really just felt out of touch. Even though she covers mental health, daily routine and lifestyle, love and friendship, society, work and pretty much everything else in between - I personally enjoyed the parenting section and parts of the book perhaps the most. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Really enjoyed this sensible yet very warm and comforting read, it felt like a whirlwind stop of all the easy, great life advice you would ever need in one handy guide. She was appointed Governor of the University of the Arts in 2010 and a Prime Minister’s Business Ambassador in 2011, holds both an MBE and a CBE and is a Trustee of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. If, like me, you work for the NHS have one child and no millions then you may wonder how relevant this book is to you. Anya reflects on her ambitions for her children and concludes: "If you just love your children to bits and make them feel incredible and confident then that's the greatest gift you can give them" Such a powerful statement as we often feel we need to provide criticism to help progress, but forget each of us have our own inner critic that's doing a great job at that already. This book contains nine insightful chapters packed with valuable and practical advice on parenting, love, relationships, physical and mental health, organisation, entrepreneurship, time management, self care and a small dose of humor in between. I’m not sure anyone can live life at this pace and altitude and not experience anxiety, self doubt and severe jet lag.
