It is a well thought out comprehensive compilation of encouragements and challenges to help us grow in godliness and well worth having a copy to hand.My most recent reading of this book was in the last two years as I slowly went over it with some of the high school young men in my church. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. There are some books on what it means to be a Christian man that feel more like they are fueled by popular movies and books (such books shall remain unnamed. The applications of the principles seemed unnecessarily wooden, so the group was able to wrestle with how to apply each discipline with wisdom.
