It has a distinctive light and fruity aroma and delivers 10 years of maturation in primarily bourbon barrels.

The final process is bottling, which also takes place at the Bushmills distillery, which is rare as they are one of the only distilleries in the world that bottles their own whisky to ensure quality is maintained.

The story of Bushmills started back in 1608 when they were given a license to distil and in 1784 the old Bushmills distillery is made official. As Colum Egan, our Master Distiller, says, “we’re still making whiskey the old way; the way our great-grandparents and their great-grandparents made it. The sherry really overpowers the vanilla and honey from the bourbon casks and takes away from the desert like flavour of this. Officially launched in 1784, although whisky had been produced on the site for at least 150 years prior, this is one of the industry's oldest and most respected names.
