About this deal

It is particularly rewarding and refreshing to see the girls, through multiple-POV narration, actively work through those changes, and work to understand one another and their differences. I will be the first to acknowledge that socioeconomic privilege plays a big role in how you navigate the world - but in a time period where visibly being BIPOC got you horrific treatment and often dangerous backlash - I had no interest in holding Violet's hand and walking her through the epiphany on why her white privilege actually gave her an advantage over every one of her BIPOC heist members. Find out the answers to these questions and more in this fascinating inside look at a dedicated councillor's career. She’s hatched a plot to steal a bejeweled copy of Rubaiyat, a book of Persian poetry that will be transported aboard the ship, but she can’t do it alone.

As a 16-year-old, Francis set a record as the youngest player to score four goals in a match, an early indication of an exceptional talent. By the point the ship started sinking, I was so disinterested in the book that none of the emotional beats hit me, which is wild. Seeing Josefa at work as a thief was enjoyable to watch because she is so very light-fingered, she seems to be able to get away with any steal. The only thing that managed to partially grab my attention was the fact that the Titanic had started to sink, but by then, the only aspect that somewhat grabbed my attention was that half of the main cast died. Also if you deal with any form of claustrophobia, fair warning, there are parts of this book that will definitely trigger that.

Emilie who is dealing with grief and trying to find her place in the world without the family she knew and her art. Our local councillors come from people close to their electorate: family, friends, neighbours, work mates, people down your street. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). But careless mistakes, old grudges, and new romance threaten to jeopardize everything they've worked for and put them in incredible danger when tragedy strikes.

It’s historical fiction, but we have Black, Pakistani, and Croatian characters, a sapphic romance, and all but one of the main characters are immigrants, which is always fantastic to see. Perfect for fans of Stalking Jack the Ripper and Girl in the Blue Coat, this high-seas heist from the author of The Henna Wars is an immersive story that makes readers forget one important detail—the ship sinks.

I was baffled when Josefa referred to the girls as "friends" like 22% into the book because up until that point she'd only known Violet reasonably well since they were roommates at the boarding house, while Hinnah was treated as some obedient lackey. Unsurprisingly Adiba does a wonderful job here, balancing four POVs deftly, carefully bending their inter-personal relationships without them ever breaking. And while it’s certainly true, that your station in life was a deterministic factor in your fate, the lower the Class, the lower the chances you made it to a lifeboat, there is another group whose odds fall below even that. I loved most of the elements that came together in this book, it really has that high tension dramatic twists feature that you need in this kind of book. Even from the perspective of culture, South Asians place a huge value on community and family, idk, I'm gonna leave this one for the Pakistanis to speak on but I found the portrayal very uncomfortable.
