About this deal

And every time she does, she sees different aspects of her own life in a different light – giving her the push to make some difficult choices, and doing what she really wants rather than what is expected of her. From a traumatic birth with her first daughter, to single motherhood, to finding love again and having a second child, Louise’s parenting journey has been full of surprises. Louise is the number one parenting vlogger in the UK, with 8 million combined followers across her social platforms. The controversy did make me slightly dubious to read Wilde Like Me as I didn’t know if it had been ghostwritten or not. I almost wish the epilogue hadn’t been included and instead that we would get a follow up following Tabby after the end of the story – and maybe more importantly a prequel focusing on Bea.

Pentland has identified as a feminist and interviewed Labour Party leader Ed Miliband during the 2015 United Kingdom general election. Louise is the creator and host of the podcast Mothers’ Meeting, where she interviews fellow mums and discusses all things motherhood. Tabitha does have to deal with a lot but she definitely has some gumption about her and some courage in her convictions. I also guessed partially why it was happening but the book did manage to add an extra little twist that I didn’t spot until pretty late.Linda’s Book Bag readers should note that they may unsubscribe at any point from following the blog.

I follow Louise on social media – so when I saw she had a new book coming out, I requested a copy from NetGalley. Admittedly not a book I would normally pick up, not being from the YouTube generation, so I was well intrigued to check it out.The male characters were also varied – with some of them deserving a slap for their antiquated views – and I’m not talking about the ones from the 80s. I do sometimes struggle with fantastical elements in novels such as time travel but it really helped that this reminded me of ‘Who’s That Girl? It would've been great to see Tabby and Beth explore more places in their small town – or even beyond it.

It's also Robin's reactions to Lyla's outbursts that make it extra special, whether that's her verbal responses or her internal, sarcastic, embarrassed voice. Even better, I’m able to share the opening of the book with you today so you can see why I’m so excited to read this one! I can happily say that I genuinely enjoyed the entirety of this series, although I will say I am often too skeptical of books written by “youtubers” and “influencers”. A beautiful and heart-warming memoir about her experience with motherhood – it will be full of the warmth, humour and positivity she is known for … We are so proud to be working with Louise on a truly special book. As this was a book aimed at people with a different life experience to me, I didn’t feel connected to Robin at all.
