The Knipex XS Cobra® is made of black atramentised steel and the XS Plier Wrench 2-in-1 tool is forged with hardened special tool steel. The bodies of the KNIPEX Cobra® pliers are made of forged chrome vanadium steel and also feature an ideal balance between hardness and toughness by means of a multi-stage hardening process. Don't be fooled by their small size as they are the same quality as the larger tools and are extremely useful if space is tight. Over and over again traditional tool brands are leaving money on the table by not tapping into the obvious EDC market.

It's for people wanting to be able to tighten nuts or parts up to 21mm in width, and a tiny, lightweight tool. The Cobra® XS pliers are also capable of gripping round workpieces with a diameter of 28 mm (Ø 28 mm) and up to 24 mm (Ø 24 mm) on flats/nuts, for a plier with a length of only 100 mm. This fine adjustment also ensures that the distance between the handles remains easy to grasp at any opening width. We have enough new gadgets and steels to keep us occupied forever but Knipex encouraging people to carry differently in the EDC space is a cool idea and one I would like to see more of. Measuring only 100 mm in length, this tool provides optimal accessibility even in the tightest spaces.I tried this version on a number of traditional 15mm axle nuts, a width that also matches the flats on most pedals. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. These pliers are marked Made in Germany, as one would expect given that Knipex is headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. I still think the drivers and the pry/cap lifter on a multitool are worthwhile and I have a new appreciation for the can opener, all of which you lose in a knife/Cobra carry, but there is something to be said for a great uncompromised knife and a great uncompromised pair of pliers.

Knipex says these are good for up to 21mm, but at that point the handles are a fair distance apart and you may feel them hard to lever against.
