About this deal

I am beyond happy as my plant got a bit leggy and lost some leafs, hoping this will help make it fuller. Most things can be done DIY if you know how it is done and has the motivation, resources, skills, and knowledge to do so. I read somewhere that keiki paste should be reapplied after several days but I think that would only apply to nodes that have not started growing yet but don’t know for sure. For all other refund policies please visit our Refund Policy page for detailed terms and conditions.

I did not have a handy Phaelonopsis orchid bloom stalk to use a my positive control, so it is possible the keiki paste itself was inactive. I think I will try for both more flower spikes and keikis - on some of the plants I’ll let the flower spikes go to see what I’ll get and on the ones that are finished blooming, I’ll try for keikis. Engage young minds with an easy and inexpensive STEM biology activity by showcasing how auxin and cytokinin hormones work.

Unlike propagation from seeds, new orchids derived this way are perfect clones of their mother plants.

Your orchid may surprise you when one day you notice leaves and roots growing on your orchid’s flower stalk. But before one died it did look like it wanted to grow a Keiki and threw out a couple tiny aerial roots, this happened within about 5 days of applying the paste. The paste is mainly used on orchids to create a "keiki", or baby orchid, on a dormant node on a spent flower stalk.

Wait for a couple of weeks, and you’ll soon know if you’ve propagated your orchid and have a keiki, or if your orchid is growing more flowers. Younger plants with shorter stems (as in the photo) will have fewer nodes, and they may be nearer to the soil. I was kind of skeptical about if this would actually work, especially for my jade plants, and I was overjoyed to find out that it does! Or are us hobbyists the only crazy ones that will try something different just to see what we will get?
