It came with replacement cork, but I don't see how you would replace the cork since whatever adhesive they used is very strong. Smaller dwarf and roborovski breed hamsters don’t require a huge wheel, and something between 16 cm and 18 cm should suffice! I posted here earlier about my dwarf’s weight and his wheel use and someone recommended a larger wheel, so I’m currently looking for one.Anything without a solid surface runs the risk of tails, or paws slipping through the gaps and suffering serious injury. There is a bar that sticks out but it’s not sharp and is pretty high up, I’ve been looking at it tonight and wonder if it makes the whole thing a bit more wobbly. Over the years it has been frustrating to see Pets at Home advertising wheels that are only 12cm in diameter as being suitable for Syrian hamsters and not providing an alternative larger suitable wheel for hamsters. However, I will say that the Trixie plastic wheels have actually improved slightly with a few modifications. The new wooden wheel is cork lined, which is a feature for grip and comfortable running that we have seen on other ethical wheels. My previous gerbils never chewed them much but my current gerbil Twiglet succeeded in detaching her wheel from its stand. Twiglet just got tired of me procrastinating and was kind enough to finish the wheel off while Tictac wheels were still on sale. Remember that a larger hamster would require a bigger flying saucer, which could take up a lot of room in their cage.Perhaps Hams got used to the open front from the tiny savic one his cage came with or maybe he just doesn’t like it enclosed?
