Performance is exactly as expected from a Montale - longevity, projection and sillage are above average but not nuclear like Arabians Tonka or Ristretto Intense Cafe. Montale Starry Nights shares the soapy aspect of Woods and Spices but i much prefer that one, even tho it leans more feminine then this.I do love the artistry of perfumery and while I have my favorites, there are few fragrances I actually despise. I own a couple of Montale but even they are well below par for most perfumes in projection and Sillage especially versus cost. Heavens help me, this gunk also has terrific projection and sillage, and I'm afraid I will be smelled in the next room. Wood and Spices opens very unpleasant on my skin for the first 30 minutes, but then slowly transforms into a gorgeous cologne-y fragrance. It's amazing how they ruthlessly bottle the worst cheap-designer-in-disguise scents in a niche dress, and manage to actually sell them.
