I really enjoyed the Netflix adaptation but don’t think I’m the target demographic for these graphic novels. It sounds straightforward, and in many ways it is – but that only allows Alice Oseman to polish each beat of the story to perfection. Heartstopper is the bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel series about life, love, and everything that happens in between. This book is just feel good all the way, and begins what I believe to be, as well as adorable and oodles of fun, an incredibly important story.

As summer turns to autumn and a new school year begins, Charlie and Nick are about to learn a lot about what love means. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realised.

This book is absolutely perfect, well aside from only being the first part of a larger series but still. I realise it quite often isn’t the case BUT I hope that it will educate at least some of those that need educating. Her YA novels have been nominated for the YA Book Prize, the Inky Awards, the Carnegie Medal, and the Goodreads Choice Awards.
