This week we pulled up in a gravel pit roadside rest area, and with the sun blazing down we really wanted our awning and shade screen up on our Caravan, but the ground was too tough for our awning pegs to even dint! Even if I did manage to hit a rock, I could usually angle the bolt a bit and drive it right to the ground with very little effort. If you want to save a few bob you can use suitable sized screw in bolts from either Toolstation or Screwfix.

I think for somebody who has difficulty hammering in pegs they are a good alternative although I was a little concerned also about how loose they seemed in the video.
