About this deal

Unbeknownst to Angelo,he was a natural problem solver and leader, my favourite character Hallie was a feisty, take no shiz tomboy, Gustav (Gus) was the comedian of the group and Niara wasn't the uptight, preppy individual that she came across as at the beginning of the story. I read and reviewed this book for a blog tour, so thank you to the blog tour organiser for having me on this tour. The creep factor gradually builds into the nightmare these teens must work together to defeat and save one another's lives, and the life of their teacher. They always feel completely believeable and genuine from the way that they speak and act, to their references and the way they interact with each other. My favourite part of the book was when they were trying to defeat the spiders and Angelo is finding out what's happening.

This is Killick’s best book yet; think 'The Breakfast Club’ meets 'Stranger Things’, making great use of her talent for comic dialogue and her astute eye for just the right kind of scary for this age group. I feel like I got to know more about Angelo the most, but this was mainly because it was him narrating the story, so we saw it through his eyes. I didn’t expect a lot of the plots and the revelations were well done and definitely surprised me as I would have never expected the direction it went.

The setting is nice and claustrophobic, as all good horror settings have to be, if the characters can just walk away it ruins the plot somewhat. When their teacher disappears and creepy things start happening, the group band together, forming a friendship group to outwit their enemies.

Somehow, the Breakfast Club trope never fails to win me over, which is used here - four kids on a Saturday detention, pushed to the limit and learning from each other. Set in an American high school, this book tells the story of Angelo who is blackmailed by someone who knows his secret. She regularly visits schools and festivals, and her books have been selected three times for The Reading Agency\'s Summer Reading Challenge. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. I thought this addictive thriller is worthy of far more than five stars,is one of my favourite reads of the year so far and is very very highly recommended by little old me. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If you love middle-grade books with that spooky/creepy factor, a fantastic group of teens that come together and learn from their mistakes all while having each other’s backs, a school setting and some very surprising twists, you should definitely pick up this book.
