About this deal

This is the third and final installment in Lauren Asher’s Dreamland Billionaires trilogy, so if you’re new to this series, you should start with book one, The Fine Print, to avoid spoilers. Cal's addiction took over the whole book and made it feel as though the romance was a secondary plot. Also, his personality is captivating and it's impossible not to care for him, to not try to understand him and, most of all, not to cheer for him. I was a little disappointed by this end book, but I think it was more because I loved ‘fine print’ SO MUCH more, it was beyond my favourite with the characters so it was much harder to beat.

This (anti)hero is perhaps the most “broken” man I’ve ever rooted for in a love story; he’s actively addicted, terrified of feeling his pain, and forced to confront the one woman who has always held his heart. Lana is such a layered and deep character that was relatable and determined by the end of the story. She seemed offended that Cal didn't know anything about her life during the 6 years since their relationship had ended. Definitely recommend for anyone to try this series and give it a go for a first romance series if its something you wanting to try as a genre. We never got a follow up on what happened to Lana's sister 4 years later in Cal's extended epilogue.

This book is quite long (actually really long, but we'll talk about that later), but that fact didn't really play a role in the "I feel so connected to these characters" feeling. I wasn't a fan of the grudge that she held against Cal for dumping her, 6 years ago, because he was struggling with his addiction. His grandpa wants him to spend the last summer in the house with Alana before selling it to access his inheritance. one of my big issues with the previous books were how they didn’t feel like stories beyond the basic tropes they utilised. There was a lot of two steps forward, one step back and that very much felt real and raw as Cal worked towards finding his why. i hate how they all treat his addiction as an inconvenience to them, that rubbed me off the wrong way. All the things he has been through and how he fought his own demons to love himself and become better? She avoids touching Cal and he tries to talk to Lana and since she ices him out, he goes back to drinking, I’m like fuck Cal.

My favourite part of Final Offer was the epic trip to Dreamland (the Kane family’s Disney-esque theme park), which included a princess makeover and fireworks! you could feel just how in love Cal and Alana were, how devastated they were when things didn’t work out or when they took several steps forward and even more backwards. On the downside, this book seemed somewhat long as it was over 100 pages longer than the other two books and Final Offer was slow to start too. We finally are introduced to the infamous Lana (whom Cal spent the last two books not so secretly pining over) with her pointing a shotgun at our MC.i have a personal pet peeve with second chance romances where the hero doesn’t really offer much when trying to change his attitude and behaviour while atoning for his mistakes. it meant the books were too long with very little happening because everything was given away too early in the first few chapters of both books. This was a beautiful romantic, heartfelt, spicy story with both characters and events I hold dear to my heart. All I can remember about her is that she's a single mother, loves to bake, and is somehow still madly in love with an addict who walked away from her YEARS ago. Cal’s chances of obtaining his inheritance are put in jeopardy when he discovers that Lana, who hates Cal for breaking her heart, co-owns the house and doesn’t plan on selling.
