Kennedy provides plenty of solutions and examples of best practice from around the world that we could easily incorporate, should we wish to change the justice system. Therefore, they know fewer judges socially and will not be championed in their career rise in the same way that men are. And while there has been some change – much of it initiated by Kennedy herself – progress has been halting and deep-seated reform is still urgently needed.

Happy to see that many of Kennedy's suggestions for reform have been taken up, albeit a decade or 2 late.It is indeed shocking that double standards can affect the outcome of the trial and a woman who gets prosecuted, might suffer an even harsher sentence than her male counterparts for equivalent crimes only because she came to a court with a deep v-cut dress. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable co6ndition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples.

I read this book during the summer before coming to Oxford and it has proved surprisingly useful in my studies so far.
