It's also definitely a push-your-luck game, but you're not actually just pushing your own luck, but everyone else's as well. If you’re still underwater when the oxygen runs out, divers have to drop their treasure where it sinks to the bottom of the ocean into bundles, and they kick to the surface, gasping for air. This is actually going to be on my “New to Me” post for November, as I just played it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It’s whimsical, which I appreciate, but I think that’s also consistent with the general style of games Oink puts out.

Deep Sea Adventure is also a reactionary game, if one person picks up then everyone else almost always follows.

I was amazed when I first played at how a non-card based light game could be fit into the tiny Oink box, and am still impressed at how fun the game can be. Sure, there’s some luck mitigation by having the ruins tokens decrease your movement ability, but you might see some players confounded by the compounding luck elements of both, simultaneously.All games in the series come in tiny form factor boxes, with simplistic cut-out artwork and minimal text on the box. You’re going to feel the weight of each individual piece of treasure, and given that the average die roll on a given turn is 4, even with one or two prizes in tow you’re going to need a significantly greater number of turns to get back compared to the dive down.

Once a player is carrying treasure, their movement is slowed by one point for each treasure they carry.

It’s the double whammy of moving slower and the end of the round accelerating on you that punishes hubris so readily. On subsequent turns, players continue to decide direction, and roll to move, with an interesting catch.

The visuals will bring people to the table, and that gambling/party atmosphere created through consequential dice rolls will keep them there.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
