About this deal

Getting the best wormery for you means ensuring it has the correct size, number of trays and volume. The world’s best-selling worm farm has been designed with built-in mounds to encourage worms to move from collector trays to working trays, unique flow-through ventilation to maximise performance, and no mess extras like well-designed legs and a drip-free tap. Harvesting of nutrient-rich worm castings is easy because your worms from The Worm Farm eat their way up each tier, leaving their rich castings free of worms on the lower tiers. The world beneath our feet is teeming with life, and understanding the biological processes that make our soil thrive is more than just academic—it’s essential for the future of our planet.

So make sure to steer clear from raw materials being placed in the Worm Bin, such as stuff that are salty, oily, spicy, citrus-based, meat, poultry, and seafood. Black is the best colour for absorbing heat, but avoid this if you don’t have a shaded spot to keep it in. A worm blanket to cover the contents and create an environment that encourages the worms to work efficiently. Comes with a book of simple instructions, complete with frequently asked questions and answers, in their Can-O-Worms®.The trays feature “stops” to improve air circulation, but we found the gaps meant the worms could not move upwards as well. Compact, odorless, and efficient, this composter will yield beautiful, densely nutritious compost that your plants and gardens will thrive on.

I then gave them a few peelings etc and let them get started on this for a few days before adding a larger amount of scraps on a regular basis. Id been using the trays as planters for a good 6 years, but now im in a position to get back to my roots, and get some wrigglers back in there. Now when it comes to the can o worms composter, coit’s a worm composting bin that’s actually easy to look after. Other than that, it’s very handy to have at home, since you can easily place it indoors (beside your kitchen counter, under your sink, by your balcony) or outdoors.Like most stacking tray systems it has a base with a tap to drain leachate, to this the legs are attached, the first tray has the worms and bedding, to this the kitchen waste is added, when full the next tray is added into which the waste is placed for the worms to move up into. I wanted to do that because I had far too much "fresh" food to go striaght in the wormery, and I hoped by bokashi-fermenting it the worms would get through it quicker. After that I have been filling up tiers 2 and 3 with food that has been fermented in a bokashi bin first. Few layers of newspaper at the bottom will help retaining some types of bedding material (coir, peat etc. The worms were harvested along with their original bedding and castings which is full of cocoons and juvenile worms.
