About this deal

https://github.com/OpenSource-EBike-firmware/TSDZ2_wiki/raw/master/install_TSDZ2/adventure_touring_bike.jpg https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/105815170/170384279-da68944c-ad4f-4dba-8b72-06b61be60cb9.jpg I’ll also mentioned that Tongsheng’s firmware (ie the code that tells the motor how to behave) is a little weird. In particular, you get maximum assist at an oddly low cadence – about 60. It then tails off until at about 100 RPM you get very little help at all. This is not intuitive if you’ve mentally programmed yourself to spin up hills to stop your knees exploding; I sometimes need to change up to a harder gear if I want more help on a hill (this only works if you’re not already getting the max available power from the motor. If you are, then you need to change down to keep going. You’ll get the hang of it after a few weeks, honest). Même si d'après le statistiques, le plus grand nombre des incendies viennent des EPDM (et surtout des trottinettes), le bannissement concerne tous les véhicules y compris les VAE. I said the TSDZ2 max power was a touch low, but it still does the job. My electrified Sutra weighs 36kg, I weight about 85kg, and even carrying about five kilos of shopping it’ll still trundle up a 12% hill at 20kph-ish. Add more weight (say my four-year-old), and you’ll need to change down another gear, and will be going up the same hill at maybe 15kph. On the flat it’ll happily get you up to 25kph (where the assist fades away; again, a legislation thing).

This project is being developed and maintained for free by a community of users. Some of them are developers who work professionally developing this type of technology for very well known companies. At the moment, Bosch and Shimano motors have a two-year warranty from new. After that, if you get a fault, you either live with it or get a dealer to buy and fit a replacement motor (and from what I can tell it has to be exactly the same motor model – no upgrading). It’s not entirely clear how that process works, or whether dealers can get hold of spare parts, or just entire motors. Those drawn to the TSDZ2 usually come to it by searching “torque sensing mid-drive motor.” Until the CYC line of mid-drive motors came out, the TSDZ2 was the only game in town for torque sensing, which is its primary advantage over the Bafang mid-drive motors. With torque-sensing, the motor not only senses that you are pedaling but also senses how hard you are pedaling and can respond accordingly. It can feel very natural to have the ebike respond by magnifying your effort with motor power and not just put out a constant amount of power whenever you are pedaling as the Bafang motors do, Let’s start off with the key question – is a bike with a retrofitted Tongsheng TSDZ2 motor going to be as good as a dedicated ebike? Brakes: With the BBS02, I often used the e-brakes to cutoff the motor. I would often gently squeeze the brakes, even if I was still pedaling, if I’m going near traffic or pedestrians. Then I would release the brakes and the motor would re-engage. You don’t really need e-brakes with the TSDZ2. I would just pedal more lightly and the motor turns off. It’s more intuitive. In fact, I re-installed my regular brakes instead of using e-brakes (bonus: less wires). There is no fear of lurching. It’s just smoother. Most TSDZ2 kits don’t come with e-brakes or a throttle, and you don’t really need it. Mud guards again if commuting. Can be a pain if you do lots of muddy off-road riding as they can get jammed with mud. The TSDZ2 might not be as good, but you can buy a whole load of other upgrades for that price difference. Or, maybe, the TSDZ2 allows you to dip a toe in the electric bike world that was previously just unaffordable. Good – user serviceable and upgradeable

Community: The Bafang products are more popular and have been widely used, tested, and customized. There are more tutorials, information, and guides by far than for the Tongsheng products. I spoke to some people from Bafang, and they actually feel that the delay is a safety feature. If power is instantly on from a slight pedal movement, the bike could jump when you don’t want it to, or someone simply bumps into the pedals when you are at a standstill. Up to 9 boost levels to add extra power when starting and/or resuming pedaling. (Ideal for starting on hills and for hand cycles and riders with less strength) The TSDZ2 is a crank drive kit meaning it applies the power direct to the spindle which the pedal arms are attached to. This is more efficient than hub (wheel) kits and is better for hills and heavy riders. As its torque based the ride is also smooth and feels more natural akin to having bionic legs. After the upgrade of fixing plate, the adaptability of the motor is improved, so that the motor can also be installed on e-bikes A TSDZ2 that has been adapted to using two 110-BCD chainrings and a derailleur, shown here on a recumbent tadpole trike. IF…you are willing to void the warranty, there is a free firmware program that allows you to adjust every aspect of its performance and “feel”, and…many users are reporting that it works great (I don’t know, so don’t blame me).
