I do Halloween makeup all the time, but I’m very careful not to label one as the other. La Catrina is an iconic figure that comes from a piece of work called La Calavera Catrina by artist José Guadalupe Posada, which features a skeleton woman wearing a dressy hat adorned with flowers. (Catrina was also later included in a mural by Diego Rivera.)
