About this deal

Inspired by the House's signature fragrance, the legendary 'Chanel No 5', the book explores five central themes - the suit, the camellia, jewelry, fragrances and make-up, and the little black dress - and follows the threads from past to present to show how these key items have been rediscovered and reinvented by fashion designers working in the footsteps of their illustrious predecessors. Bott's examination of the Chanel legacy is neatly confined into 5 subjects - the suit, the little black dress, the camellia, makeup, and jewelry - which gives this book a well-organized presentation that serves to capture the essence of Coco Chanel. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in every aspect of this book, from the impeccable craftsmanship to the glossy sheen of the pages. Beautifully written, with 159 illustrations, 101 photos and so much history and information, about Coco, about Chanel and most importantly about fashion.

Textual paragraphs flow between pages, which is fine normally, but in this case become separated by images and full-page spreads.

I really do admire (and appreciate) Chanel for her design philosophy that prioritized comfortable, attractive clothes for women. Inside, you’ll discover rare designs from the archives, get an exclusive glimpse into Coco Chanel’s creative process, and delve into the unparalleled craftsmanship behind each creation. She dressed women to be free, and her emancipated clothes reflected the shifting landscape of society.

Doing do causes the reader to either flip quickly past the images (a shame) or to forget the trailing topic (which makes for a disjointed thought process). This is a beautiful book to have if you like the fashion house and have a keen interest in the history especially from the times of coco chanel. Chanel's combination of tradition, originality and style has always made it the most seductive of brands. A lush visual selection from the Chanel archiveessential reading for fashionistas and design aficionados everywhere.Com informações interessantes na medida certa, para não desviar a atenção das lindas fotos e ilustrações. Arrange an arrangement of fresh white roses in a crystal vase as a centerpiece and incorporate velvet throw pillows in shades of black and contrasting white for added texture. Self-inventor extraordinaire, Chanel revolutionized the lifestyle of her time by inventing a modern concept of luxe minimalism, elevating humble fabrics such as jersey and tweed to couture status, giving birth to a new silhouette both sophisticated and discreet, setting her stamp on the twentieth century with her modern spirit of understated luxury. Nestled in linen clamshell presentation cases, these books attract collectors, lovers of the printed page, and those who devour the culture of our time.

Based in the charming market town of Petworth, Augustus Brandt is a purveyor of antiques, a bespoke range of furniture and unique home accessories. Hand-bound using traditional techniques, with color plates hand-tipped on art-quality paper, each page of this limited-edition series bears the unique imprint of the artisan. Just as Chanel created modern fashion, Lagerfeld in turn established the blueprint of the modern fashion house. A lush visual selection from the Chanel archive—essential reading for fashionistas and design aficionados everywhere. There are women out there that I'm absolutely obsessed with, and one of them is mademoiselle Coco Chanel. It includes many previously unpublished archive photographs and original drawings by Karl Lagerfeld, as well as glorious images from some of the greatest names in fashion photography. The book explores five central themes—the suit, the camellia, jewelry, makeup and perfume, the little black dress—and follows the threads from past to present to show how these key items have been rediscovered and reinvented by new designers. The work of the house under her successor Karl Lagerfeld has transformed fashion anew: He drew the template for a fashion designer reviving a moribund house with elements from its own history.
