Impressive high-quality printing. This sort of artwork is intolerant of printing faults, so the quality control is excellent. The pictures feature clean lines and solid, non-bleeding colors. In terms of the images on the cards themselves, the graphics are clear and bright, and the images are great. It is a modern take on the Smith-Waite theme, with lots of modern landscapes, clothes, and technology. The Modern Witch Tarot has 78 modern cards with young women on them. It has illustrations of all kinds of women, femmes, and people who aren’t sure what their gender is. The Four Powers spread and its alternate, The Cunning Path spread, and the 9-card Inner Wheel layout are provided. The Hierophant traditionally wears three layers of clothing to represent the conscious, the subconscious, and the super-conscious mind. The Modern Witch Hierophant wears a dress, a scarf, and a layer of tattoos, a beautiful interpretation of each layer, in my opinion.Every one of the 78 Modern Witch Tarot Cards represents a different idea. Award-winning artist Lisa Sterle brings traditional signs into the modern day with bright artwork that honors the variety, enthusiasm, and vitality of the new form of magic taking place around the globe.

While the wording of both the descriptions and the interpretations is modern, the divinatory meanings are not radically different to traditional meanings so much as updated and appropriate to 21st-century living. The advice given has a generally positive outlook but does not shy away from the less pleasant issues that can arise in readings.

Each card of the Minor Arcana is illustrated and closely mirrors the representations in the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot, but of course with its own modern twist. The symbol for the minor arcana suits looks very familiar, but the illustrated scenes are fun to explore. Lisa Sterle is a Columbus, Ohio, artist who creates comics, concept art, and pop-culture illustrations. Her art is colorful, expressive, and often horror-tinged, combining her two favorite subjects, the beautiful and the macabre. The strength of traditional tarot symbols is combined with the strength and power of witchcraft in the twenty-first century, where we make our own magic with our own bodies and the latest fashion. However, some cards have multiple meanings that are not revealed in the description. The Moon card, for example, can represent anxiety and confusion. However, in this guidebook, it asks us to ‘ do something crazy.’I would also appreciate it if the guidebook contained the card keywords, as I think keywords are super useful for beginners.They are all wearing modern clothes and styles, but the Rider-Waite style is still there. Even though both the descriptions and the interpretations are written in modern language, the divinatory meanings are not that different from what they were in the past. She also works with many kinds of Eastern and Western divination, including the I Ching (ancient Chinese text), tarot, feng shui and Four Pillars of Destiny (Chinese fortune telling).

Several spreads are included – the one card draw, two 4-card layouts, The Four Powers spread and its alternative The Cunning Path spread, and the more complex 9-card Inner Wheel layout. The cards measure 70 mm x 120 mm, which is a fairly standard size for tarot cards, they are neither overly long nor particularly broad. The Minor Arcana receives a little less attention, there are no images or descriptions of the card, just the interpretation. It should be noted that there are no reversed meanings given for either the Major or Minor Arcana. Sterle uses a broad palette of solid colours that echo Pamela Coleman Smith's - bright blues and yellows, mustard and tan, candy pink, coral, and dove grey. And people of color are more than an afterthought; it’s a beautiful thing to see. These are real people, and they come in all sizes, colors, and ages. Lisa Sterle beautifully merges traditional Rider-Waite symbolism with modern imagery. Every classic symbol and idea is on each card, and we can read them intuitively. Furthermore, because of the diversity of people on the cards, we are able to connect with Tarot on a deeper level.
