It is rich in natural minerals such as calcium and magnesium which are beneficial to health but it naturally has low levels of nitrates and sodium which might be deleterious. Mountain Valley water originates at a protected spring on what were then the grounds of the hotel, just west of the present Highway 7 North, approximately twelve miles from downtown Hot Springs.
