About this deal
stars -> rounded up to 3 stars. Perhaps I'm being generous, and maybe I just really wanted to love the book. I was so excited about it and so prepared to love it like I did Caraval. But I'm glad I didn't buy this book because I would have regretted. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to review it (I was supposed to post this review two months ago, whoops), but I would have regretted spending the money on it. I will read Finale but it'll be a library request from me. ANMOLLLL! THIS BUDDY READ WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE SAME WITHOUT YOU, SIS! You made the experience of this second book what it was! Can’t wait for book 3 with you now! ONE STEP CLOSER TO OUABH! The way I was going into this one on my journey to Once Upon a Broken Heart while loving scarjules and now (after Deema's persistence 🤭) I need to see how I feel about Tella! What makes something real Tella? Does seeing something make it real? Or does hearing something make it real? What about feeling something, is that enough to make it real?”
Scarlett isn’t in her room when Tella goes to retrieve her. Tella goes out on her own to find the woman of parchment and ink. She doesn’t spot any actors she knows on her way. The other contestants seem to be on a different path than Tella.first off, i want to apologize for taking so long to write this review, school has been so tough, and i haven't found the time <3 But, oh... the end was beautiful. Because I had a billion and a half theories, I won't answer whether or not I was surprised. I will say this: Legend's reveal was perfection, and now I need to reread the whole series just to fully comprehend everything that took place. Tella is supposed to walk until she hears something that makes her stop. She stops at a door when she hears her sister’s voice. She’s in her room with Julian, telling him she wants to trust him again but can’t. They refer to Julian as Legend’s brother. Maybe this was the clue she was intended to hear.
Please don’t stop such and interesting speech on my account. I’m sure I have heard far more colorful curses” “—Did you just insult my use of profanity?” “—I thought I asked for more dirty words” When you truly care about someone, aren't you supposed to be honest, even if it means you might lose that person?” Tella tossed her sister a grin. This was exactly what she’d hoped for. Although a part of her still couldn’t believe the rumors she’d heard over the past week were true. Caraval only occurred once a year, and she’d never known of two games being played so close together. But Tella supposed even Legend made exceptions for the empress.Scarlett’s mouth tilted toward a smile. Tella could see her sister trying to battle it, but then it transformed into a melodious laugh. Happiness made Scarlett even prettier. This game is a dream wrapped in nightmares, yet to some it is a nightmare wrapped in a dream, it is deceptive, it is beautiful, it is addictive and yet it is the one thing that can break your mind before it breaks your heart, or maybe even both at the very same moment without you ever realising it. It is hatred and love and happiness and sorrow. There are more players in this game than we imagined, but this time they might just be real. Beings of monsters and magic filled with a desired for something beyond our knowledge. Oh but Tella is embroiled in her own love triangle, don't you worry. I know she is in love with Dante by the end of the story, and I know he loves her, but there is another guy that seems to be in love with Tella and noooooooo thank you. I actually LOVE this character and I wouldn't mind a Tella/This Character pairing IF Dante had never existed. Meaning, This Character as a love interest is so unnecessary. Why though. Why.
