Ripstop Nylon 6 Groundsheet - 70 denier Nylon Fabric is a great balance between low weight and high durability, waterproof to 6,000mm HH Don’t touch the sides: If pressure is applied to the tent walls of a polycotton tent, water may seep through. Keep bags and other items away from tent walls and be mindful that condensation can collect at the foot of AirBeams.
Turn heaters off: Further warming the air inside the tent will increase water vapour in the air as warm air can support more moisture (our techy guys talk about dew points and percentage humidity), plus the warmer the tent is the more moisture will be released into the tent through evaporation and perspiration. Instead of heating the tent, warm yourself up with the right clothing and good sleeping bags. The whole structure is ready to go and the design is clever. There is a reasonable head height for a small, lightweight tent and while it would be a squeeze for two people, the tent layout just about allows for that. The whole tent, inner and outer is one piece and there are vey few poles. Next, you stand the tent up and peg it in place and sort the guy lines.

I think I am more likely to use this tent for solo trips. That way I can sleep more comfortably and have my kit inside the tent with me. Did you know that 1 person can produce up to 1 pint of condensation per night? So, let’s say you have 5 people in a tent, that is potentially 5 pints of water inside your tent! Other likely sources of moisture are wet shoes, clothes, dogs, cooking, even the air itself! Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air, as the temperature falls at night the more moisture is released into the air. Fact, even without occupants, the air in a six-man tent holds approximately 1 pint of water!
All in all, this is a well thought out functional tent, as you’d expect from a tent company with Vango’s pedigree. New for 2021, the Vango F10 Krypton UL 2 is a 2-man tent and is an exciting addition to our Force Ten Expedition range, made for extreme adventures and expeditions and suitable for the harshest conditions. The Krypton sits alongside our XPD and MTN tents and is the pinnacle of our range. The Krypton is pitched inner first and is made of a Geodesic construction, reinforcing its strength and allowing for a free-standing structure. Made with a lighter Protex 15.SRN flysheet and high quality, light Yunan Eco Alloy Poles, providing excellent strength in high winds and benefitting from taped seams for a watertight seal. There is plenty of room to sit up inside and the peak of the tent is offset to one side for easier movement and to give a streamlined, wind shielding shape. The Krypton has all you need for those planned wild adventures for wherever you go. Pitching is easy, and the inner and outer go up simultaneously. Once the poles are in, it's just a case of pegging out the tent. There are also five guylines, so it's a tent that will withstand severe weather. The tent has good airflow; the fly sheet door has a "hood" over the top, so the door can be opened without being exposed to the elements; this help promotes good circulation. However, it should be noted this tent is designed to protect from bad weather rather than ventilation. You might be tempted to buy the one-person tent to shave in more weight from the overall tent, but at 1.4g, this two-person tent is actually a good option for one person. There is always a compromise when it comes to space and weight for wild camping or mountain marathon tents, so you can’t expect lots of space. However, there is a decent head height (sat down) and width. Tents designed with good ventilation and an inner tent will fair best. In certain weather conditions, the design of any tent can be overwhelmed by moisture. For example, if it is a cold night and there is no breeze to circulate the warm, moist air out of the tent, condensation is likely to form.

Ventilate your tent!: The most effective way to prevent condensation is to ventilate your tent and reduce the internal humidity of your tent by promoting a good airflow. Examine your tent for low and high venting options and open them to let the moist air flow out. If the weather conditions permit, leave the upper and lower sections of the door open, mesh sections can be kept fully zipped. If appropriate, also ensure vents at the rear of the tent are fully open. Make sure the vents are not obstructed by bags or sleeping bodies.
